buy ascended back item with karma?

In a way Ascended items can be bought with gold/karma. Karma can translate to gold and gold is still gold, the best way to get Ascended backpacks (other than fractals) is with karma/gold.

at the moment, there is only 2 ways to get ascend back items:
1. fractals
2. tier 6 fine crafting materials
well, yes, there are some methods to convert karma into silvers
i.e. 1575 karma roughly translates into around 8 silvers on average, depending on the market rate. but that involves a lot of mindless clicking!

100k karma = 23 dailies. That’s actually quite a bit less than the cheapest ascended gear bought for laurels. And that’s without karma boosts from bonfires/boosters, guild banners and bonuses, ice cream, infusion, etc (up to +95% karma, ie. almost double). Karma is incredibly easy to get, and apart from exotics and stuff for legendaries, there’s very little to spend it on, so it’s very easy to accumulate. Not even remotely a grind.
As for coin… T6 mats and coin are easily interchangeable. If you wanna grind coin, feel free to do so and then buy the mats.
As I said, I’d like there to be alternative recipes that do not involve a vial of mist essence, so people don’t have to do Fractals if they don’t want to, but otherwise the recipe is fine and does not exclude any types of gameplay.

You need to put in a bit of effort to get an ascended backpiece, rather then just sitting back and letting it fall into your lap. And, as discussed earlier, it’s a tiny stat increase above exotic. Across one item. If you don’t feel it’s worth the effort, don’t get it. If you do, do.

but i do not fancy the special icon and special display skin.
i do not show the back item anyway.

Not all the ascended back items have fancy skins. The quivers and books seem to be the generic skin to me.
Karma for an ascended piece seems like could be alright to me, but the 100k =23 days thing isn’t quite right. Unlike laurels, you can karma in many parts of the game where as laurels are only from daily, monthly and achievements, making them much slower to acquire. There’s also a large array of karma boosters available, you just have to find a banner or bonfire or maybe your guild has the boost. So you’d have to be careful with the pricing, otherwise you’re just screwing over people who got the piece through mystic forge.

I would really appreciate ascended back pieces without fractals or farming. Karma or laurels would be great.

since 42k may get us an exotic armor piece.

i thought prices of them tier 6 fine crafting materials went down? the prices shot back up even higher due to crown pavilion farming?
I’m kind of surprised too honestly. Especially with all of the champ farming. But you have to realize that bloods are used for crafted zerker gear, and since everybody needs zerker gear(because why have anything else right?!?) so I guess bloods will always be worth a ton.
