Guild Wars 2

so i havent played this game in a long time and im not geared up to anything. i do have lvl 80 char. but can i do any of the new content , dungeons and new areas or do i need to get better gear first? because then i thing ill pass on this expansion.

As long as you have exotic gear — which has been in the game since launch — you should be able to participate in the new content, and exotic isn’t difficult to get at all. You can either buy it with karma or use gold to buy it off the trading post.

Gearing up in this game isn’t really like gearing up in most games. Just about all the content can be done with even minimal gear. It’s probably easier to keep up in Guild Wars 2 than it is in most games, because once you have something, it doesn’t immediately get outdated.

I’ve had guildies who’ve returned to the game after two years and jump right into dungeons with us.

You have a lot of catching up to do, BUT it’s definitely doable. It’s just going to require some time and effort on your part. There is no reason you can’t still enjoy playing. Hop in and join the fun. I’m sure you’ll find SOMETHING fun to do and enjoy. Beware: ascended crafting is EXPENSIVE.

You can do pretty much everything in exotic/rare gear (base game and xpac) except two thing.

1) Fractal. You can do up to level 9 with exotic gear only, you need some ascended gear to go higher. But you can easily get to level 39 with ascended trinket, which are really easy to get.

2) Raids. We don’t really know. It’s suppose to be the hardest content is the game so the far you are from the best gear (meaning ascended) the harder it will be. Anyway, if you were away from the game for so long, you gonna need to practice before you are able to tackle that hard content.

Everything else in the game can be done with pretty much any gear.
