I don’t know that I’d call Nicholas The Traveler a daily, as he’s in a given location for a week. Plus, while the gifts would give you a CHANCE at something good, you’re more likely to just walk away with 10 sparklers or something.
The problem with using GW1’s system of Bounties, Vanquishing, and Missions for dailies is that GW2’s maps aren’t instances. So, if say you have a bounty to go kill a specific champion in Fireheart Rise, you’ll be competing with every other player trying to get the daily; you might zone in right after the champ was killed, and then you’ll have to wait around for the next spawn.
Missions would be neat to have for dailies, but right now, Personal Story is still not repeatable. Maybe once they can/want to make PS repeatable, then that could be a neat possibility.
Vanquishing couldn’t really happen because, again, maps aren’t created for each player party entering.
I like the daily system for the most part but a buff to the reward would definitely make me do them more.
Anything that would change dailies for the better would be welcome. The current iteration is tolerable in PvP/WvW but uninspiring at best and awful at worst in PvE. It’s amazing how much of a difference there is between “gather 20 anywhere” and “tap 4 nodes in region X.” It’s especially noticeable in “do events in low-level zone” which is far and away the worst implementation of a daily task I’ve seen in any game.

OK so an exact copy of gw1 dailies might not work in the current system.
But there has to be better alternatives to the current ones. Something like the guild bounties would be better than bosses for example.
Make people work a bit Harder, but give them better rewards like guild commendations.

This would mark the fourth round of dailies being called intolerable and needing to be changed somehow. As the last three times haven’t apparently mollified any of the players . . . I’m game for just ripping and leaving them out entirely.
The daily system is terrible, a waste of anets time and they should invest in a weekly or daily challenge system that actually involved some challenge.
Stop rewarding players with daily AP and scrap the whole system.
Just delete posts that are derailments.
