now in gw1, capes were awesome everybody probably made there own guild just to have there own cape (i think that is how it worked been a while since then). i think the title of this thread says the rest of my message.

It has always had me wondering why we have a cape slot, when the game has no capes. Very strange.
The engine GW2 runs on has enough clipping problems as it is.
Capes would just be a horrible clipping nightmare. That is why we do not have them.
please that is no excuse not to have them. if they were serious about the clipping they would fix it.

Weapons on the back – how will you handle this with a cape?

Coding working collision physics? Just let it all clip like noone cares?
ANet has other priorities than fixing something that is not broken (as long as they avoid introducing capes).

I do believe clipping errors is why we don’t have capes yet. And, seeing as those Charr have been clipping since release, I don’t think fixing it is high on the priority list.
no need to make the cap permanent. and when its active it hides the back weapons like great swords and hammers

Already have issues on kits- blade back-shield-
Bladeback sticking out of hoboback- shield removing all of it-
It feel incredible stupid having backpieces removed visual each time you do anything.
capes would just add to that confusion if the first part is not fixed before.
Besides.. Not really a cape person- they get stuck in airplane engines as you fly past them.
Rather than capes they could expand tremendously the number of styles of backpacks for in game use, using the age old system of NPC jobs.

Ah, come on! I love my bulky Charrs. Clipping issues is not really an issue with the race itself, but with armor. (Shoulders, some chest pieces such as the one from CoF)

Let’s say it like this: if the kittentiest of f2p mmorpgs can get capes succesfully implemented, and a big kittening company as Anet can’t in 2 years, then they are just flipping us the middlefinger. This game is just dead. With f2p games like Black Desert (holy kitten, check this out) and Archeage (BD is in beta, Archeage is in Alpha (for translation purposes)) around the corner, I have now oficially written off GW2 as salvagable.
kitten this company with its constant bullkitten kawaii panda hats and kittening charr backpacks. This has been such a waste of my time. They don’t listen to the community at all, and it has been 2 kittening months since we had our meagre, cliché living story. If they’d just put way more effort in a good DLC that costs money, then this game could’ve been great.
2 years and still no cape, dungeons, armor sets, continents, more WvWvW maps etc. The company has done nothing in the 2nd year.
Alright, I’ll give GW2 one more shot. If the next living story won’t blow my socks off with its long-awaited fixes, additions and content, then I’ll quit this game for good.
Every back item clips like crazy. Excluding capes because of clipping is arbitrary when the wings and backpacks all clip into long hair or any back-mounted weapon.
Where are they? In GW1
I think there are a lot of more pressing matters to be taken care of in this game other than capes at the moment… THAT BEING SAID… I would love to see more hanging flowing cloth bits on armor and I would love to see some kind of back item comparable to capes. An actual cape I wouldn’t mind but if I had to choose I would rather some kind of scarf type, over-over-the-shoulder thing that may be a little more interesting than a sheet hanging off your shoulders.
All in all, I am pro “capes.” I don’t think clipping is something that people are gonna care that much about. Armor already clips as it is and I haven’t seen anyone complaining about that!
Can we freaking fix female charr shoulders and backpieces floating 5 inches off of their kitten bodies first?
