Does anyone know of a site that has attempted to do a census for gw2? Of late I have been very interested in seeing if the population is maintaining and exactly what professions are most played. Partially I must admit this is because lately I have seen anet “hotfix” things based on metrics yet if they have access to such info why are they not fixing things to adjust for the fact that certain classes are overtaking the population due to vast imbalance.

Can you give an example. Because if its one area anet focuses on its pvp mostly for survival purposes they think more people will play if it becomes an esport. There wrong of course, but that notion keeps the m balancing the game more than fixing bugs in the game.

There was a website that had a census going pre-release to help people determine which server they might want to participate on. Tis how I found out the one I’m on now was going to fill up fast – and how I found out there was a server dedicated to RP.

If you’re interested I can try to find the link to it again – though I dunno if the site owner would be interested in trying to promote it again for more recent figures… you’d have to contact them and see.

Edit – twas easy enough to find anyways so here’s the link: http://www.asuralabs.com/serverPoll.php

Do keep in mind as I mentioned earlier it was last done pre-release so not up to date… perhaps you can get them to do another poll including more options to be selected (ie profession) or just get an idea based off the site and do one yourself.

Thank you for the link. Hopefully the owner will consider doing a new one even if only at the six month mark. I feel it would be quite relevant and informative to the state of the game.

As for a direct example it is hard to point to one thing, but it’s more of an overall feeling. Personally my first character was a necromancer that I really liked in both pve and PvP. Just by chance my next character was a guardian and I was blown away. In pve my skills and traits actually had a purpose and functioned. In PvP I felt I had the ability to win against any other profession if I played right. As I have made more characters and leveled them to various degrees I have felt more and more that certain professions are complete and others are just not on par. I’m certain I am not the only one seeing this as when you stand around LA yup can see a massive number of specific professions and a notable absence of others. This is even more apparent in PvP. I like the game still even if I don’t agree with a lot of the direction lately. Still I do not want to see a population composed of only half of the classes.
