move chat panel channel selection (/say, /map /guild…) to directly underneath (or on top of (so that accidently switches are less frequent)) the chat panel; laid out horizontally in button-like form and always visible when chat panel is fully visible, to make switching chat channels easier. make the buttons highlight when selected to easily see which mode is set.

just a QOL suggestion.

Isn’t it already like this, or am I misreading your suggestion? Could you elaborate please, possibly some mockup images?

no, the top is for making new tabs and other things.

And you can name each panel to indicate what it does. Guild, Whispers, Map, Friends, Doggie-paws…whatever.

when you click on [map], /say /guild options become available. suggestion is to move /say /guild options to underneath or on top of chat panel like in the picture. kind of like choosing from different chat tabs but it changes you chat mode/channel instead.

It already does that. You choose what mode each tab includes; from just one to many.

People seem to be misunderstanding what the OP is stating.

Currently, to change what chat channel, not tab, you are typing in, you have to either click the arrow at the bottom left and select from the dropdown menu, or you have to type in /say or whichever you want.

OP is suggesting all the options be shown below and selectable outside of the dropdown menu.

For the suggestion, I don’t think it would make too much of a difference if implemented. It doesn’t add any new functionality and would clutter the chat window. For the visual prompt of highlighting the buttons, that too is already present in functionality. The current systems has the name of the channel to the left of where you type, and it is color coordinated. The only nice perk I can see would be limiting the options shown below to the channels the tab you have open displays.

I wouldn’t necessarily be against this, but I think the current system is adequate.

Ahhh, I understand what you’re going for now, apologies for misunderstanding. Now that it’s clear, yes, that would be a nice addition. I do run into the issue sometimes when I have to re-create Guild Chat to get the flashing text on new message. Also happens a lot when I run out of tabs and have to quickly switch to a new chat in the middle of typing a message.
