i recently went to gw2 wiki and looked up sigil of air. In the notes at the bottom it says it has a 1.1 damage coefficient, but only displays .88 damage coefficient in the chat tooltip. So in my eyes its essentially doing invisible damage to the enemy.

My question is how many other skills, sigils, any kind of damage even condi damage have misinformed information given to the player that does invisible/uncalculated damage.

What im thinking is a thf goes and does a back stab for 10k but in reality because the display is wrong its actually 13k thats a biig difference when im running ele and only have 14k hp wvw roaming. Or how often condis tick, maybe the tooltip doesnt show what the actually condi ticks are ticking you for or how often.

if this is stupid or doesnt really make sense ill delete it.

Sigil of Air got a nerf a while back. There’s no guarantee that the wiki was updated to reflect that.

Testing/calculating/updating the damage coefficients is a very tedious task. There are some dedicated contributors who test & retest them, but some things do get missed.

Looking at the notes, it appears that one of the testers has already discovered this discrepancy as of 30 July 2016.

Why does it need to be tested? Isn’t the damage coefficients programed into the game of each skill?? It doesn’t change unless the devs change it them selfs. And if the official website that states skills having a hidden/invisible damage to it just seems like the entire damage system is broken and illequpt for real competitive play. You can’t have a legitimate fight if the log and everyone sees that it say 2k damage but in reality it’s 2.5k, that just doesnt make a competitive fair understanding of combat.

because the numbers on the wiki are put there by players and players do not magically know these values so they need to test to find out. That testing is made more difficult by the removal of steady weapons which have a constant weapon strength.
