21 Mesmer – 44 deaths, 29 hours.
until i checked deaths/age on my characters,
i would have guessed that my warrior was the best survivor,
but the numbers prove that my rangers are far better, and my engineer is uber.
(i dont have a guardian yet).
all my stats are open world PVE only, no dungeons, no PVP, no WvW.

Deaths-per-Hour: ~1.45

If you parse the numbers carefully you’ll be able to pick out the people that spend a serious amount of time in WvW.
My 80s…
Mesmer- 521 1/2 hrs, 765 deaths
Guardian – 170 hrs, 400 deaths
80 Guardian
237 Deaths
512 Hours 42 Minutes
80 Ranger
270 hours
401 deaths
If you parse the numbers carefully you’ll be able to pick out the people that spend a serious amount of time in WvW.
(…)
That and/or running dungeons. Wasn’t aware of the /deaths command, will check that out tonight.
“Whose Charr is this?”- “Ted’s.”
“Who’s Ted?”- “Ted’s dead, baby. Ted’s dead.”
Not wanting to look a fool in asking the bleeding obvious but here goes
Where/how do you get these stats from?
type /age and /deaths in the chat window
DOH I should have worked that out from the OPs title .. Thanks Kiba
80 guardian – 602 hours, 346 deaths
80 guardian – 81 hours, 92 deaths
80 warrior – 227 hours, 304 deaths
If you parse the numbers carefully you’ll be able to pick out the people that spend a serious amount of time in WvW.
lol, you haven’t even seen a serious pvper yet. I play mainly pvp on a guardian (tanky class that dies less than dps), and just look at my stats
80 guardian- 686 hours- 1,899 deaths.
I don’t even play as much as other people and I’m only rank 38 while there’s people in their 50’s now, who main thiefs and warrior and such. I can’t even imagine what their deaths and age are
667 hours, 489 deaths.
At least 460 of deaths are from WvW tho, I barely die in PvE (Thief).
Level 70 thief
109 hours
Deaths 26
Level 80 Engineer
323 Hours
141 Deaths
80 Thief – 600 hours – 196 deaths.
80 Ranger – 115 hours – 30 deaths.
(edited by Azure Prower.8701)
80 Ele – 236 Hours – 72 Deaths
56 Guard – 103 Hours – 52 Deaths
43 Ranger – 108 hours – 21 deaths
36 Thief – 67 Hours – 11 Deaths
26 Engie – 35 Hours – 11 Deaths
26 Necro – 36 Hours – 12 Deaths
15 War – 11 Hours – 8 Deaths
10 Mes – 7 Hours – 4 Deaths (3 from going afk somewhere I thought was safe)
I thought my ranger felt more durable than my guardian.
The info on the low lvl ones probly isn’t useful but figured since I needed to log into all of em anyway might as well.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
Okay, here are the results so far. (more info will help, I’ll update every now and then as we get more data)
class – # deaths per hour (total deaths / total hours)
1. Thief – 0.65
2. Engineer – 0.88
3. Ranger – 0.88
4. Elementalist – 1.11
5. Warrior – 1.39
6. Necromancer – 1.46
7. Mesmer – 1.65
8. Guardian – 1.67
(edited by Moderator)
Engineer 262 hours played
1173 deaths. (sPVP)
80 necro – 476 hours played
622 deaths (6,000 kills in wvw)
http://blacktalons.guildlaunch.com/
80 Elementalist (D/D mostly)
425 hours / 305 deaths (1,730 W3 kills)
80 guardian – 462 hours – 890 deaths
80 Necromancer; 199 hours, 103 deaths
80 Warrior; 323 hours, 270 deaths
80 Elementalist; 109 hours; 51 deaths
Looking at this, the numbers seemed skewed to me; I think it is because the warrior was being played at the sharp end of the learning curve in dungeons, whereas the Ele has not been in a dungeon at all.
80 Norn Warrior, 333 hours played, 67 deaths.
80 Warrior, 318 hours 98 deaths
80 Elementalist, 277 hours, 122 deaths
80 Thief, 115 hours, 25 deaths
80 Ranger, 96 hours, 6 deaths
58 Guardian, 71 hours, 12 deaths
45 Engineer, 50 hours, 13 deaths
38 Mesmer, 48 hours, 6 deaths
35 Necromancer, 37 hours, 10 deaths
Over 95% PvE activities. Deaths come from dungeons > WvW > Seasonal event challenge to high level zones for low levels > falling deaths > Normal field activities.
lvl 80 Engineer, 272 hours – 249 deaths
lvl 80 Mesmer, 202 hours – 105 deaths (I have not yet finished Orr with this one. I expect the death toll to rise. Also just started trying to complete the WvW map so dying more in there too.)

Interesting idea. I only really have 1 character worth contributing though:
80 Ranger – 451 hours, 326 deaths (768 WvW kills, not something I do a lot)
My other 2 characters of notable level each have 2 crafts at level 400 sooo they haven’t really had much chance to die and were seriously over-leveled most of the time.
48 Thief – 40 hours, 16 deaths
60 Guardian – 65 hours, 39 deaths
Well the count will be a bit skewed if you look at people that PvP/WvWvW allot compared to just the PvE side of things.
I generally dont care much for PvP/WvW and dont have a ping to realy support it either, so as a PvE refrence;
80 Warrior: 239 Hrs, 62 deaths.
Compared to PvPers:
If you parse the numbers carefully you’ll be able to pick out the people that spend a serious amount of time in WvW.

80 Guardian – 579h – 830 deaths ;D
80 Guardian: 218hr 17min/ 187 deaths
11 Necro: 5hr 46min/ 3 deaths
25 Mesmer: 28hr 45min/ 19 deaths
18 Thief: 13hr 18min/ 20 deaths
8 Engi: 6hr 16min/ 0 deaths (wvw leveling only char, woo!)
(I’ve had “alt zheimers”, so unfortunately my data is slightly skewed in a sense)
Tbh, this is a fantastic thread idea
Pure WvW 80 Warrior: 857hr 41min/ 761 deaths/ 2,674 WvW kills
Class (lvl) - # Defeats Per Hour (Total Hours / Total Deaths)
Elementalist* (80) - 0.73 (372 hrs. / 275 d)
Engineer (80) - 0.39 (234 hrs. / 93 d)
Thief (48) - 0.46 (125 hrs. / 58 d)
Mesmer** (20) - 0.14 (35 hrs. / 5 d)
Ranger (19) - 0.04 (25 hrs. / 1 d)
* I think it’s important to note that my Elementalist is 1. my starter character, 2. my explorer, and 3. the only character I’ve done WvW with so far. If I were to begin a new Elementalist now, its DPH would probably be lower.
** My Mesmer went from lvl 17 to lvl 20 without leaving Divinity’s Reach (crafting), and she’s also had everything handed to her (gear crafted by other characters). She’s just spoiled like that.

My level 80s only:
Thief: Hours-147 Deaths-56 (World PvE only; third character)
Elementalist: Hours-251 Deaths-134 (World PvE and some WvWvW; died a lot there. Also 1st character)
Ranger: Hours-124 Deaths-65 (World PvE, maybe 10 hours of WvWvW; second Character)
Sort of surprised that the thief has the lowest deaths per hour for me. None of those hours are padded, no standing around, no playing the TP, what crafting I did was done efficiently. Do WvWvW deaths count in the total? I definitely died a lot there with my characters who spent any time in WvW. I’m always sacrificing myself for the greater good!
80 Ranger: 107 deaths over 292 hours
80 Warrior: 197 deaths over 117 hours (Gotta’ love that WvW)
80 Thief: 274 deaths over 310 hours (Gotta’ love that WvW and sPvP)
I am anti-censorship, for it doesn’t make sense to pander to a minority.

I hope we’re ready for some number skewing. This is what happens when you try to D/D every dungeon in the game, PuG dungeon master, and play WvW without following the large zergs everywhere:
Elementalist
time played – 913 hours 20 minutes
deaths – 1574
Guardian (80): 276 deaths, 400 hours
Mesmer (80): 259 deaths, 272 hours
Warrior (80): 114 deaths, 120 hours
I spend a lot of time in WvW on the Guardian and Mesmer and I am a tad reckless in there.
My characters think I’m crazy.
Interesting topic…made me look. Pure PvE (no pugs) here.
Elementalist(50): 49 hours, 9 deaths, 0.18 Deaths/Hr
Mesmer(80): 132 hours, 43 deaths, 0.33 Deaths/Hr
Ranger(80): 115 hours, 24 deaths, 0.21 Deaths/Hr
Warrior(80): 94 hours, 28 deaths, 0.30 Deaths/Hr
I wouldn’t have guessed this at all. I knew Ranger would be low, but Elementalist lowest? She is only 50, but I don’t remember dying a lot 50-80. Oh well, we’ll see. My highest death rate is my Mesmer and I always feel pretty untouchable playing her. Very interesting!
Necro (80): 410 Deaths, 296 Hours-1.38 Deaths/Hour
Ele (80): 92 Deaths, 80 Hours-1.15 Deaths/Hour
Other characters have less than 15 hours logged on, all less than lvl 30 (so not important)
…I’m a really bad necro Q.Q
50/50 GWAMM x3
I quit how I want
i got to 80 on my elementalist with no deaths, now he’s dying every where:(
80 ~ Elementalist 176 hours 18 minutes over the last 2 months, and died 35 times.
80~ Warrior (my 1st) 1606 deaths, and played 824 hours 51 minutes over the past 2 months.
1,790 hours 6 minutes over all characters over 10 months :P
Guardian -
1000 hours
3041 deaths
Yes I play wvw (20k kills)
Sharks With Lazers [PEW]
Ranger (80): 713 Deaths, 299 hours
1119 deaths
1864 hours
12,458 kills in WvW
I don’t do sPVP.
I’ll count in only my level 80 characters since the others are lower than level 10.
Thief – 959 hours played and died 1153 times over the past nine months.
Warrior – 391 hours played and died 593 times over the past eight months.
Mesmer – 261 hours played and died 306 times over the past five months.
I’m a both WvW and PvE player.
80 ranger – 71 hours, 150 deaths
80 necro – 641 hours, 1,168 deaths
80 warrior – 79 hours, 64 deaths
80 ele – 189 hours, 177 deaths
I wvw a lot on my necro
[PVP] Fort Aspenwood
Looking at those numbers … the OP should’ve separated PvP, WvW and PvE … you can clearly see that thief and Mesmer are PvP/ WvW players. Mesmers don’t die in PvE and Thiefs only die in PvE …
Both numbers are far, far less than my Guild Wars tallies
80 Engineer – 507 Deaths, 671 Hours.
