Q:
@devs: changed heritage Cantha -> Elona
A:
Story-wise all human characters are from Divinity’s Reach. That question just establishes what your sister will look like when you find her.
Other than that you’re free to make up whatever family history you like. My human character’s family is from all over the place because she’s descended from all my GW1 characters and some extras I made up because I didn’t have enough for a full family tree.
According to her grandfather there’s even some Orrians in their line (merchants who were away from home when it was destroyed)…but then according to her grandfather her ancestors single-handedly defeated Abaddon while Kormir just stood there so you can’t necessarily believe that.

There’s nothing in the personal story about Elona and even if there were, ANet can’t retroactively edit characters — there are consequences behind the scenes.
If the expansion adds something like this (very doubtful), then you’d have to create a new toon.
Your personal story really ends when you hit 40 and join one of the guilds. From then on it doesn’t really matter what you’re background is

For humans who said that they never found their sister, there is a point where you can state (talking to Logan) whether you were Canthan, Krytan, or Elonian. I’m guessing this wasn’t saved at all; after all, it is just dialogue.
They can’t change your characters’ choices in the Personal Story. If they could, all those who chose to accept another’s progress while partying, and whose Story arc was moved would have been able to get it moved back with help from the CS Team.
For an individualized response, you can contact the CS Team.
Good luck.
It does affect what your sister looks like when you see her later, but you don’t see a ton of her and it never comes back in game in any important way. I just did that storyline on my new Elonan Ranger. They didn’t update her appearance, though. She’s still a slightly darker skinned flat faced straight haired sort.
This is the Elonan version of the sister:
Anet has been working hard to remove all background personalization from creation / personal story, or to minimalize it if they can’t remove it. So I wouldn’t worry about your character’s back story.

Right, thanks for setting me straight. I forgot about that option (I remembered the ‘Cantha’, not the Elona part).

Or any of the story for that matter. :^)

Abadonn’s Gate? Kormir dident do anything other than randomly use “Incoming!”

That’s the joke.
The lore version is that Kormir lead a group of Sunspears and Whispers agents (your character was both by that point in the story) against Abaddon and she is credited with defeating him.
The reason she didn’t actually do anything was that in both Prophecies and Factions players complained about the stupid AI getting important characters killed so in Nightfall they compromised by making any non-hero NPCs in your party just follow you around.
So my compromise is that the lore version is what “really” happened and the in-game version is how my characters perceived it (after all they were focused on fighting and staying alive themselves, not watching what Kormir did) and the version they told to their descendants.
A bit like how my grandfather maintains that Plymouth suffered far more than London in the Blitz because London only got what the Germans could drop before the RAF chased them off and Plymouth got all the rest of the bombs. Of course news reports at the time, historians and people who were in London say differently, but what do they know? He was there.

That is exactly what I was talking about, ShadowWolf, thanks!

I hope so, but it would be nice if a dev could confirm this.

Ahhh, you are right! I played it quite a while ago, so I didn’t recall that small but important detail.

Hah hah, that’s rich! Funny, I remember my character’s grandparents telling him the same story, hmmm… Perhaps our ancestors knew each other.
