digital deluxe version
Let’s see here is what you get with the DD edition. I’m breaking it up to show what comes with the DD over the base game:
Guild Wars 2 game
Suit of Legacy Armor* (Once used this goes into the wardrobe system and can be applied to any character of the same armor class using transmutation charges)
Mithril Box* (Yes, can only be given to one character)
10 Experience Boosters* (Can be given to any character on your account until they are used up)
———-The Digital Deluxe Items that are not included in the base game———-
Summon Mistfire Wolf Elite Skill* (Account wide, available to all characters)
Miniature Rytlock* (Account wide available to all characters once added to the mini wardrobe)
Golem Banker* (Each new character gets one)
Chalice of Glory* (one time use, yes)
Tome of Influence* (one time use, yes)
So, I think you can see there are many account wide items with the DD. Some items don’t make sense to give per character. For example if you got a Chalice of Glory with each new character you could use it to artificially increase your PvP rank above and beyond what the one time use does just by creating characters, using it, deleting the character and doing it over and over again.. The same goes for Tome of Influence, you could create characters use the Tome, delete the character and do it over and over to artificially increase your guild’s influence.

yeah….but….as a brand new player Tome of Influence & chalice of glory quite frankly don’t mean a lot to me, the legacy Armour I can see no real reason why each new character cant have a set (after a few hours of play I had already upgraded most of it anyway). My central point here, is that as an initial experience it was disappointing, this cannot be the intent the company is trying to create, and has left me pondering whether purchasing additional in game items is going to leave me with the same experience. I like the game, I don’t want it to be pay to win, but I also don’t want it to be pay to be mildly disappointing either.
Once the skin is unlocked, all your characters can use the skin (with transmutation charges). As skins are a major focus of the game, it is quite a nice bonus to be given a Gem Store Armor skin set free.
Perhaps, you are not familiar, yet, on how the Wardrobe functions.
Welcome to Tyria, and good luck!

It’s actually better than how it used to be. Prior to the Wardrobe update skins were single use only, so despite potentially costing $10 only one character could wear it at a time; want a second character to wear the same skin set or even part of the set? You’d have to buy it again at full price.
Worse yet the only way you could keep the skin was to hang on to the items that were reskinned and continuously reapply them to your new gear for 1 transmutation stone (which were free from map completion rewards) per piece, but transmutation stones only worked up to level 79. If you wanted that $10 set you bought all those levels ago to be applied to a new set of level 80 armor, you’d have to pay again for transmutation crystals (which were gem store purchases only).
I mean, really, for a long while my characters were rolling in level 78~79 exotics simply because I refused to be swindled like that. You’re actually having it pretty good, believe it or not.
Thanks for the feedback folks, your absolutely correct I don’t know how the wardrobe function works, like I say I am totally new. My thoughts are really directed at the company, surly they want players to purchase in game? There is no subscription and I’m sure they want to generate as much revenue as possible, that being the case it this makes no sense to me. To put it in customer service speak, most companies try to “surprise and delight” not “not disappoint and underwhelm”. My initial reaction on realising that only my very first character i ever created got the goodies was “well that’s a bit kitten ”. I’m delighted its not as bad as it was, but that’s along way from “that’s really good value”…I am keeping my fingers crossed that as I progress my experience will be more positive
The actual Armor set can be passed down to any of your characters that wear the same weight class Armor, so take good care of it
