In gw1 you did fowsc/uwsc. In gw2 they want you to farm gem store. They don’t want you to make money, that’s the secret. Everything is acc bound/souldbound on use so you don’t sell and make money. Drop sucks in general and there’s no end dungeon unique skins like Crystalline/Eternal swords were, which you could sell and make tones of money. Here this doesn’t exist… that’s why everyone is ******* about gw2’s drops and is unrewarding. The fact that i have nothing to grind for skin OR money doesn’t make me want to log in at all cuz what exactly could i be doing? Nothing to do.

ohh yea soo true
then explain me how i can make 10g an hour?
some ppl can get even more
and some ppl are even more lucky and get precursors from drops
how u can make 10g in 1 hour?
this game its the ultimate anti farm MMO i ever seen.
its too much anti farming so its become really annoying
Get magic find gear for farming. Everyone says it is garbage, but when farming it helps immensely.

So crystaline sword was less rare than precursors are now? Im not sure what are you talking about. Every high-end chest has chance for named exotic, alot of them for precursors so everything you do gives you chance to have big gain, just like back then you had SMALL chance to get crystaline sword.
You are talking about gw1, so tell me did obsidian armor costed less than legendary is costing now? You didnt have to grind UW / FoW for ages to collect all ectos and shards? Green weapons were dirt cheap so boss farming was pointless even without DR, which existed back then too.
In the end, if there is nothing for you to do in GW2 find new game to move on, after few months spread hate on forums of that new game then move on again, and again…
I often wondered about GW1 and how they handled these drops because in GW2 right now the drops in the open world are horrendous. A guildie of mine told me that GW1 was horrendous too, was that everyone’s feeling about it or did no one notice because it was dungeon based?

I think your guildie doesn’t know what he’s talking about because rare drops in GW1 are 100x more common than in GW2.
He probably meant GW1 was horrendous in general, which is obviously an opinion.
i played gw1 for like 6 years and it was amazing,i could spend alots of time farming UW,FoW,getting good drops and all those staff u can grind them but surley get a good money reward from it.
Have you ever seen the Guild Wars 2 Manifesto?

That doesn’t mean, “we want to avoid required grind”. It means, “we don’t want players to grind, period”. If it makes you feel any better, all other MMOs are grinding cesspools. GW2 is the exception.

Those “some people” are like what? 5 out of 1 million? gg that is very nice percentage! 10g/h spamming AC is fun! so kitten fun killing same easy crap getting trash loot to merch without EVER expecting something awesome to drop. Grinding AC/CoF/Orr is a joke. You get garbage loot and you’re okay with it, well, gl to your 10g/h and have fun spamming same dungeon for the next years to come. I want something challenging, challenging BUT rewarding. GW2 doesn’t NOT have this kind of things but gw1 did. If you’re telling yourself that you’re enjoying spamming AC every single day just LOLZ.

What are you talking about? by doing uwsc you can EASILY get all ectos needed in a week. every single other component (shards for example) could be traded for ectos or bought with money ectos made you…. Don’t even compare the joke grind legendaries are in gw2 to obi armor in gw1. The game does not have a dungeon that rewards you significantly like uw was. It was what? 4-8 ectos per run and sometimes more (tera way) and you’re telling me that getting 90-110e (or whatever it needed i don’t remember but i know for sure it wasn’t many cuz i crafter four obi armors) and you’re comparing this to legendary crap anet made here? lol you funny.

Farming is not grinding. It’s about time some people got that straight.
Farming is something a lot of people like because its rewarding. Time spent over reward received is great.
Grinding is something all people hate because its the best way of getting a reward and yet very unrewarding.

so tell me why alots and i mean alots of ppl think like me?
in GW1 u could sell everything. even something that worth 1silver.it took me half year to get 2 full obsi armor sets wtf are u talking about?
every UW farm (10min top) ive got like 4-5 ectos + if u do full run u can get from the chest eternal blade and from FoW u can get obsidian edge.in DoA u could farm some stones and sell them aswell
even the green weapon u get from bosses u could sell for like 4-20sdont tell me to go to other game,i played gw1 for 6 years. i have a reason that i play this one aswell but ye the drop rate its a joke and all that soulbound, account bound its a joke.
Out of curiosity, what did you do in gw1 for 6 years? Farmed UW /Fow? What was there so magnificent in gw1 content that held your attention for 6 years?
Only way you could hang with gw1 for 6 years is pvp, doing HA or GvG which has nothing to do with even smaller amount of content and bigger amount of doing same stuff.
You probably can make 2 obsi sets in 6 months but then that is all you do. Farming UW/FoW for 6 months is fun and not grindy but gw2 is all about grind right? lolI cant tell you to go to other game, but i can suggest you to do so since you already said there is nothing to do in gw2…
If ALL you do is grind FoW/UW SC then that would definitely get boring but I also have pvp’d all these years and VQ with friends. I have gone back and done missions countless times to help newbies and I still do, log into GW1 and go to a starting mission there are guarantee’d to be players that are wanting help.
I have spent years trying to solo (and accomplishing) some elite dungeons with heroes & henchmen, very challenging and requires a lot of micro managing.
Is this the case in GW2? No. GW2 is like a single player game trying to be an MMO, there are not even set roles other than DPS. You know I find it funny that GW1 was not generally accepted as a true MMO from outside sources, yet it is far more an MMO than GW2 ever will be.
It was a very cooperative, team based game. EVERYTHING was done as a team. Whether or not you were with players, heroes, or henchmen, you were never alone (aside from solo farming ofc).
That, and Build Wars is what gave the game longevity, and what makes it still replayable to this day. Playing with friends never gets old imo, and GW1 is by and far one of the very best games for doing exactly that.
Not to mention vanquishing always gave you something to do, maxing titles, capping skills, farming which wasn’t nerfed into oblivion like in GW2.
And when you wanna do content yourself? No problem, load up some heroes, customize their builds and equipment to synergize whatever playstyle you feel like.
True customization is what has had me playing all these years along with friends and great combat that is truly strategic, not loldodge twitch based.
Farming is not grinding.
Farming is exactly the same as grinding. It’s as mindless, as easy and as pointless. They also catter to the same kind of person, who wants “time > skill” due to an inability of dealing with “skill > time”.

Just to make it clear, we are talking about speed clears that were possible after 3 expansions and bunch of skill added over period of many years since start.
GW2 is 4 months old barely. How was ecto farming at start of gw1? hardly rain of ectos if i recall…

Who are you to decide whats fun for everyone?
You know who you remind me off? The type of person who is happy when everyone in the class did as bad as he did on a test. Exactly that.
Some of us focus on efficiency. Since you are not, you want everyone to go as slow as you do in therms of making gold in the game. That’s exactly what you seem like and that is exactly why you like the DR in place.

Some of us focus on efficiency.
Nope. Grinders focus on grinding at best, exploiting at worst, and they expect to be rewarded for that. Let me tell you: grinders don’t deserve to be rewarded for grinding. Just as in real life, time spent doing something mindless and easy is not worth of a reward. Which is why I like DR – it punishes people who think they deserve more for face-rolling for hours and hours.

We are affected by same set of rules in gw2. Since you focus on efficiency and he is not he will go slower than you anyway in given circumstances. My idea of efficiency in this case is maximizing gold gain in given timeframe. So by you beeing more efficient you will go at faster pace than him guaranteed.
That said, usually there is one maybe two ways in any game to be most efficient in earning gold and it cant be fun to do that one thing over and over with single goal of making gold.
All you people are complaining that you cant make money fast enough. Even if every grinder out there was able to make 50g / hour there would probably be flood of complainers that are unhappy they cant make 100g / hour.
Nice school analogy you did there, apropriate for level of your discussion.

Not the best comparison to real life :p Society depends on boring jobs consisting of endlessly repeating the same thing. Not that most people would want to acknowledge that :p
Anyway, Anet tells players to play the way they want to. So it makes sense, that there is no reason for DR other then to fight goldselling.
If someone likes to mindlessly repeat the same content for some loot, I don’t have an issue with that. And I hope that Anet will find more efficient methods to fight goldselling without needing DR. Because DR is never perfect and will always hit the wrong players at some point. DR is not in the game for the reason that you gave.
Not the best comparison to real life :p Society depends on boring jobs consisting of endlessly repeating the same thing.
And those people get very poor salaries in return for that. A Chinese factory worker who works 18 hours per day seven days a week does not get nearly as much as Steve Jobs used to get, even when he worked less hours. Do you know why? Because, in real life, “skill > time spent”. Doing something mindless and easy for hours and hours (aka, grinding) is not going to make someone rich in real life. It should not make someone rich in-game, either.
Anyway, Anet tells players to play the way they want to.
And the Manifesto clearly says, “We don’t want players to grind”. Which means, they want to stop people from grinding. Those two ideas are one and the same.

The real world is harsh. Duplicate the real world in Tyria is not entertaining.
We need more options other than “grinding” to defeat bad RNG. Moreover, some people actually enjoy “discovering” rather than “buying” their equipments.
