eSports needs in-game & Website Adverts
And this is supposed to get people to watch it? There needs to be some sort of in-game pop up/mail informing players to tune into the Live Stream matches when they happen.
No, no, and no unless there is a way to permanently disable it forever so I can’t accidentally enable it again.
Many of us live in NA so a suggestion of this nature should not be surprising at all. But, having given it its due consideration, around one second, I vote no.
No, unless it can be permanently disabled.
No, unless it can be permanently disabled.
Why would it need to be disabled? It’s a simple in-game mail that says something like:
"Hello Adventurer,
The Mist League will be hosting matches between a teams today. If you’d like to watch these matches, please tune in to the http://www.twitch.tv/mistleague and cheer on your favorite team(s)."
It takes all of 10sec to delete that main in-game if you don’t want to read it or care about it. But it’s a good way of informing the player base of matches, and for GW2 to promote it’s eSports agenda.
Absolutely not. Between all the spam about live events and the right half of my screen being dominated by advertisements for in game stuff we’ve had enough. There should be less of this junk, not more.
Achievement points for watching matches on Twitch.tv! That’s what we’ve waitet for!!!!
No, unless it can be permanently disabled.

No, just no. I don’t need more junk showing up on my screen or in the mail. No.
I don’t think it would be too obtrusive if it was on the launcher, as part of the news feed. I’m not sure it needs to be anywhere in game though.

Because most ppl don’t care, think spvp is crap or would be just annoyed by another popup.

This never gets old when eSportzzz topic pops up.
Most used: Guard/Mes/War/Nec/Ele.
Yes, i use 5 chars at time. Because REASONS.
Esport should be dragged out into the back yard, shot, burned and buried.

It just seems so low key right now that nobody gives a Skritt about it. If it gets more public views, it’ll become more mainstream (and that’s needed to bring publicity to the up coming PAX event that’s going to happen).
Maybe nobody gives a Skritt about it because actually nobody does give a Skritt about it.

I certainly don’t. Now, if we had regularly televised polymock matches on ESPN… actually, I wouldn’t watch that, either.
GW2 is not an e-sport and never will be.
Optional ingame notification is really great idea.
I like to watch spvp tournament streams occasionally, but constantly checking twitter while playing is troublesome.

As long as it could be permanently disabled and didn’t glitch and turn itself back on time to time, as long as it didn’t remind me at times I could turn it off and on, as long as the option to turn it off or on wasn’t on the screen, as long as they didn’t start showing up in the chat window, as long as it didn’t cause any bugs with the game, as long as it didn’t use up any resources, as long as there was a 100% chance that once I opted out I would never have to see or hear of it ever again, I wouldn’t have a problem with it.
How much poison going on in this thread isn’t good or constructive. I personally would not like to see in-game mail pop up for it, but perhaps some sort of added UI feature that’s subtle (but flashes on occasion until you verify that you’ve seen it, like the party join window). Guild Wars 2 does need a lot of work before it can become an esport. Primarily, my belief in what’s hindering it is the fact that the spectator camera is so limiting. Had we been given the tools that ANet uses for their floating camera carousels in cutscenes and had control over it, the eSports scene might be a lot more interesting. It may sound like conflicting arguments, but we’re working toward eSports. The longevity and overall popularity of the game is dependent on it.

I’m sorry but no. I don’t want anything flashing on my screen that isn’t part of my game play. Something flashing on my screen until I verify I saw it would actually be much more obnoxious than an in game mail. Do we really need more stuff taking up space on our screen?

I said subtle for a reason. There are a thousand ways ANet could make it non-obtrusive. Use your imagination.

I know what subtle means and it means it is still there. I don’t want subtle and especially subtle flashing to tell me to tell it I saw it. I don’t want it on the screen at all. As subtle as it may be I have a pretty good field of vision and I’m sure I would see it constantly. Take a poll and ask people here who wants more junk on their screen even if it is subtle .

No, just no. Because many of us really couldn’t care less about watching other people play games. A simple option to disable the notifications is acceptable, I don’t see why that can’t be a win – win situation for all.
