just came back to the game after a while to discover my engineer doesnt have his kit backpacks anymore. that, actually really sucks. i loved my flamethrower backpack and my engi doesnt even look like my character anymore to me. completely removed without even an option to keep them, why? i will never understand game devs complete aversion to giving their players options. just a simple option to hide them instead of removed altogether. instead my awesome flamethrower look is gone and i cant even bring myself to play my engi anymore. makes me very very sad.

Just create a fresh engineer, select the tool pack as your initial “gear” and use that skin. Looks just as good as the flamethrower pack, really.

Why is it gone?
Try to dig up the MASSIVE thread from Engineers begging that kit-backpacks be removed. This thread was active pretty much after launch, and only became buried once Anet made the change to get rid of them – a nearly 3 year undertaking.
I believe the thread was titled “Hobo Sacks: a Terrible fashion statement”

I agree that a toggle to show the packs should have been an option, but honestly I like being able to wear my other non-kit backpacks without being overwritten or clipped by kit-packs.

I liked the kit packs too. Seems silly having a flamethrower without a fuel tank, or a med kit without the medibag. They should add them back in as all class wardrobe skins.
