This is a thing that comes across whenever I travel central tyria. The first thing I see is a person linking a waypoint and giving a direction where to go, or a person asking for events. Normal stuff.

But after a few minutes at least one person begins to complain that either events are over when he/she arrives at the location or people just solo them for no apparent reason. Already had countless of discussion about this topic and I’m quite sure we had tons of topics on this board as well.

This morning however, I had a funny idea. As the events already scale the mob-numbers/strength (normal/elite/veteran/champion), why not scale the loot as well? Give an extra % of karma, gold and exp for every person who participates in the event. And maybe at every +5 or +10 players add an additonal loot bag.

dulfy-effect: Knowledge is power. But without fame, you are just a freak.

Your proposal would not solve the perceived problem of events ending before some players get there. Therefore, you must be trying to solve the perceived problem of players not calling events in chat. I don’t think the proposal would accomplish that.

Event scaling includes adding mobs. Thus, you already get a chance at more loot. As it is, the game already throws a lot of common loot at players. I don’t think a little more would change behavior. Karma is a forsaken currency. A percentage of a minuscule amount of coin is still a minuscule amount of coin. Lots of players have little use for XP.

There are always going to be some players who can’t be bothered to call events. This is especially so if, by taking the time to do so, they lose their chance to get event credit.

It seems to me that any such complaints I hear are in relation to the daily events task. People want to get their events done ASAP. An issue ANet might better address would be that the event task is mindless and boring, It also highlights the worst play experience I’ve ever seen in any game — with players stacking on mob spawn points, outnumbering the incoming spawns by 5 to 1, and spamming AoE in the hopes of getting enough tags to get credit. While I prefer to be social and accommodating to others in games, I can’t really blame people who want to solo events if that is the alternative. At least soloing has a chance to be fun.
