facts about gw2 and opinions
i think anet will do just fine.
people who wanna support anet will buy gems from time to time.
if there will be expansions, the expansions will probably be priced at usd39.99 and requires the main game usd59.99
there will be new funds from the expansion sales.
no worries there.
the original guild wars did well with its 2 stand alone expansions and eye of the north rite?
Wildstar definitely seems interesting, seems to take a lot of good stuff from GW2
GW2 is getting better for me with each patch though, I’m in for the long haul here :P Just wish there was something I wanted in the gemstore.
my thoughts exactly! they r very VERY fair with their fans and dont want to come off as money hungry, but dude….lol i would easily spend 200bucks for gemstore stuff if it was good. like more costumes (with no stats)….and it would be epic IF u could take off the skins from an armor and attach the skins to a different armor….
The only thing keeping me from spending at the gemstore (as there are a few things I like from it) is the economy.
If Anet wants me to spend money to support them in the real-world economy, they better start putting forth some effort towards the ingame economy. I’m not even a player particularly enticed by rewards, but when I want something and I’m willing to work for it, my time in the game should be sufficient to earn it, and I don’t care how quickly that makes no-lifers burn through the content. I should not be afraid that at any moment inflation and ANet’s slow reaction to exploiters could cause my goal to persistently crawl out of my reach.

you want a smart armor system that can allow us to swap the skins and stats freely.
come check out my suggestion topic then:
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/suggestions/Changeable-Armor-Skins-Stats/first#post372902
imagine an armor system in which we can freely change the skins and stats.
i.e.
we have the following:
skins: AC, COF, TA, CM, HOTW, ARAH
stats: soldiers, rampagers, clerics, berserkers
each armor piece, can change any skins and stats freely:
helm shoulders chest pants gloves boots
i.e.
AC soldiers, AC rampagers, AC clerics, AC berserkers
COF soldiers, COF rampagers, COF clerics, COF berserkers
TA soldiers, TA rampagers, TA clerics, TA berserkers
HOTW soldiers, HOTW rampagers, HOTW clerics, HOTW berserkers
ARAH soldiers, ARAH rampagers, ARAH clerics, ARAH berserkers
for these, change stats and inventory icons freely:
back amulet ring ring accessory accessory
everyone would be happy.
there would be no need for armor wardrobes as well.
Then what the hell is the point of transmutation stones? You know, one of the things people actually buy from the store. You know, a source of income for the developers.

You said it before I did. I was about to add ‘terrible idea’ (from a money making perspective) though.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.

it would encourage more purchases of fine transmutation stones since it would require a fine transmutation to save skins & stats.
people with “gotta get them all” mind set will spend more on fine transmutation stones.
banks, wardrobe have limited space.
a smart armor system that absorbs all skins and stats has no limit.

it would be a great idea since anet would make more monies from it.
more people would buy more fine transmutation stones and use them to absorb more armor skins & stats to their collection.
If someone wanted to ‘collect everything’ they can still do it now, it’ll take up more inventory space and they’d have to get more storage slots just for the armor.
Anything that borderlines ‘convenience’ is making Arenanet lose money in the long run.

there is never enough storage space.
anet will earn more actually.
people will be glad to fork out more real dollars for convenience.

try tell that to someone who want to collect all
armor skins
all prefixes on all armor skins
all runes
say, major types of armor skins:
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/List_of_armor_sets
cultural – 3 types
dungeon – 8 types
42k karma armor – 1 type
12 types, not including crafted armor types and others yet.
prefixes, not sure, say at least 15 types of stats
armor runes, at least 52 types
at least
12 skins
15 prefixes
52 runes
there is not enough storage for all.

You get 1 set of AC armor, then you transmuted as many times as you want. If you want 2 sets of AC armor, with different stats, then you run the dungeon again.
No convenience = more time spent repeating stuff. That’s how they make you play the game more. Notice how all their permanent convenience items are RNG (permanent trading post pickup contract for example) and the ones that are temporary are absurdly priced. They really don’t want you to have convenience

well, i would say they are making a big mistake.
i dare say more people would like to spend more for permanent items.
right now, i do not think a lot of people would want to spend on non permanent items.
permanent items being:
character slots
bank slots
bag slots
Amen to that, and that’s not the only big mistake in this game.
But its just business. When the game gets stale is when they’ll start introducing these permanent convenience items for sale. One big last push for money.

aaaah okies.
well, will have to wait until that happens then haha.
as the loser that i am playing MMORPGs for a long time i am going to give a quick and cheap opinion on gw2.
yes i played WoW b4 it lost its charm (crusader days and lvl7 cap).
pve-wise = GW2 destroys WoW and any other mmorpg, BUT it needs a lot more considering the fact that they wana make it a living world with much to do. they need more endgame needed, more in-between content needed (lvls 1-80 content).
PVP-wise = i hurd they are going to making dueling in the PVE world….YESSS OMG YESSS *kitten. they need GvG battles and features and stuff…but the PVP style is beautiful and it actually takes time to read and fully understand a tree to make a good build…unlike every other mmorpg out there that have a geeric build fr every1. they need to focus on adding more pvp stuff though*
Expansions = well im sure they have many plans as ive read/seen from interviews, but they need to make end-game content…..a lot more compelling.
they just need to add more things.
atm i wont lie i think GW2 beats any mmorpg out there. for example my friend plays WoW so im updated on their new stuff and well…..its pathetic and senseless =/. i think that within a year from now GW2 will become the new mmorpg giant and will most likely stay that way for a while. the only competition i see is the new blade and soul game from korea, BUT its a very different game and well….i doubt it will rival gw2.
yes GW2 is a new game and yes i have a lot of problems with it cause i believe they should add/fix certain things, but so far its an epic game and a fun experience and from what i read/seen it has a lot more to come and gw2 developers are all well-aware of what the fans want. i just see a lot of potential for this game….my ONLY BIG concern is how will they get the necessary money to fund this? i mean for BIG expansions and new content….they need money, but its a b2p game and the cash shop….doesnt have much, so the main money would come from sales and players active in the game. i understand that they dont wana make the cashshop OP and im with that idea 100%, but is this company going to struggle money-wise in the future when it comes to new content and getting what the fans want?
see bolded. pvp in this game is kind of lame when compared to the classics (UO, DAoC, Shadowbane) or the my current fave-World of Tanks. Theres really not that much freedom of builds and the people who play pvp seriously all use cookie cutter comps and cookie cutter builds. UO had it right-no classes just skill points with a cap so you could be anything you wanted to be within the skill point cap. Just my opinion tho. I’ve been playing mmorpg’s since UO and this game is pretty cookie cutter itself…just a little flashier than most but still same old same old. They should have stuck to their manifesto then the game would actually be different than everything else out there.
They said 3 million people bought the game in the span of 6 months since release.
3mil x 60$ = 180 million dollars. And IT IS getting more popular of a game so i do not think you have to worry about the money part.

If you turn out to be the new Nostradamus, NCSoft will be very happy.
I regard this whole thread as opinion because it’s been an established idea, notion, that GW2 is destined to fail if ANet does not take proper measures in the next few months.
hey Flamenco

you mean it will fail if Anet does not cater to your demands, right?

We’d be seeing signs of failure already if what you said was remotely true. Funny thing is, people said the exact same thing for GW1 during its early days.

40 vs 40 GvG battle would be awesome!!!
Actually a PvP Locker for PvE would be very convenient. And I would buy stones to unlock stuff if this were implemented. But I doubt it will ever make it in game.
definitely need more pvp type of gameplay.
i love the idea of mini open pvp zones, like the awesomness that is the eternal battleground jumping puzzle.
and some moba type stuff.
like 10players + mobs vs 10players + mobs.
anything to stop zergs and make pvp also part of the pve experience like wvw.
