was offering to help on a skill point but was suppressed for a good 20 minutes due to excessive messaging after 3 offers..what is that about? am I supposed to not be helpful; then?

make that 30 mins…

Don’t use the same message. Vary it.

tried that..hasn’t worked. I can’t believe I get suppressed trying to help players….

had to log out and log in again…pain…

Varying the message doesn’t help once you’re suppressed, but prevents you from getting there. In Queen’s Gauntlet, when everyone was constantly rezzing one another, half of all competitors were suppressed due to too many "ty"s.

Reasons aside, the anti-spam rules are too tight to permit normal messaging activity in many circumstances.

just put 4 random letters at the end of your messages. That’s what the spam bots do in LA so I figured anet’s suppression system must be duped by that somehow.

It’s a pain but it’s still better than another game (which I won’t mention) in which they’ve pretty well done away with moderators by slapping 24 hour chat bans on anyone who’s ‘ignored’ by a certain number of players. Guilds of what most of us would call idiots then use that to their advantage by ignoring en-masse anybody any of their members takes a dislike to.

True…however this is a way that nothing ever changes (in game and rl!).

I party with someone a lot who likes to send us the relevant potions of so-and-so-slaying but they get suppressed after two party members get the item. It’s a bit nuts.

OP, maybe you should give people chance to reply before sending the same message again…

Have you realized that when some people spam “ZERG?” “WHERE ZERG?” “ZERG HALP” “TP PLZ” etc. are getting away with it, but the moment you help someone or try to help new comers, that do not know how to use whispers, it triggers abuse in the system and you end up muted? It always fascinate and makes me laugh at the same time

You’re correct. 4 messages, not even in a row, in about a 2-3 minute span gave me a chat ban. Was weird too, since lots of other people were talking as well. I think they need to have another look at the anti-spam system.
