The Tiny Yuno Sniper of Ebay [EBAY]

I mean anything 50s or higher per 30 mins for food+utility is not viable imo. GIVEN that they are all level 80 across the board…..and should have similar LEVELS of ability. If we were in a different game where you have amazing food gold gated for special occasions, or that you might never be able to afford to use, sure thats great but this game isn’t setup like that.
Why is the game designed to gate so many of the different kinds of buffs behind paywalls? Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to use each and every buff type for 50s or less? It really kills ur build diversity, if ur glass cannon the 200 or 160+ whatever when above 90% hp is great…..but because of cost ur never gonna use it unless u have utility primers to burn.
And utility/food primers are over 1 gold per half hour EACH. Making them not at all viable for anything other than special occasion…..unless u want to sink ur gold.
Maybe I’m barking up the wrong tree since I mainly use my stuff for wvsw…..and ur mostly pve players, but I’m sure you’ve shared these sentiments many times as well?
If there is no way for me to break-even the gold cost from the loot of my 30 minute playsession…….the food can’t be justified (for anything other than completion runs)!
Looking through the food types and being like “Oh I didn’t know this stat existed that would be perfect for my build…..oh I can’t afford that haha better go with the other lvl 80 food that is less useful.”
Especially the account bound food…..these should not all cost such an insane amount!
The 10% damage reduction ones….yes those should cost an arm and a leg cause why anyone would think that such a stat is balanced is beyond my understanding. Everything else though……why u killing build diversity anet? And adding more types of stats to food would be nice too….everytime you DO that though you jack the price range of them to the classic 50s or higher pricetag.

Prices for food, like all items on the Trading Post, are not set by Anet. They’re set by the players selling the food and therefore based on supply and demand.
If you’re using a lot and especially if you want a wide variety of different types you’re probably better off levelling cooking and making your own rather than buying it.
Supply can be influenced though, by making the crafting cheaper (less materials) or droprate higher (more materials). Either way, I pretty never use food except for the +exp for masteries.
Of course if you are only looking at the most elite food, it’s entirely possible and likely that their ingredients are difficult to get (hostile locals, infrequent spawning, RNG) and it’s price will be also “too expensive” for your taste. I would suggest looking up your preferred food on the wiki and click on the “show base ingredients” which will bring up the price of the mats needed to craft it before you level Chef.
If the food is expensive it’s because other players also want it so demand is high. What are you asking arenanet to do? Increase the plant nodes to the point that the prices drop to really cheap? You’ve complained but you didn’t say how it could be changed.
Primers aren’t meant to be cost effective at all much like most items in the gem store; they’re QoL items for those with too much gold/money on their hands.
Besides the mussels whatever -dmg reduction food, what are you using that’s so expensive that doesn’t have a slightly worse counterpart that’s 1/10 the price? (Oh you meant those writs lol). Scribe costs are stupid. It gives a situational 100 more power at best (on a full glass build with no toughness or vitality) for 20 times the price. Ehh, niche but hardly something that’s better than everything else.
I wouldn’t mind if they made a budget -8% damage, 15% boon duration food though, lol.

There’s no set formula for why some buffs are cheap and others aren’t There are a variety of factors.
Many L80 utilities have L70 or L60 equivalents for 80% of the functionality and 10% of the price — these are perfectly fine for most people.

- Some foods & utilities are expensive because they have costly ingredients that won’t ever become ‘cheap’ (notably: scribing utilities).
- Some are cheap because the ingredients are always cheap.
- Some are cheap because they are byproducts of some other purpose, including drops from Wintersday Gifts (far, far cheaper due to drops than from crafting and generally far cheaper than their non-frosty equivalents).
- Some are cheap because they aren’t meta or max.
- Some are expensive because they are meta or max.

The problem with scribing consumables is that they left in the stupid nesting from before the April patch.

Pretty much this. Badges are easy to acquire and the difference between these items and the top/optimal ones are minor in most situations that the average player will encounter.
Those masterful writs of strength that your talking about is 8g eqch in the tp. If you don’t want to pay that much either find a lvl500 scribe friend who will make them for you or get to lvl500scribe yourself. Last time I checked, they were about 2g to make if you buy all the stuff..

More like 2g50s. Scribe only goes to lv400 and that cost around 400g. Only takes around 100 writs to break even.

Opsy my bad. Interesting, 400g to max out? Might work on it then. In my own case, I go through alot of them so for me it would make sense.

That is assuming your guild already has the necessary upgrades.
Unless you spend 24h a day in WvW on an arrowcart and need top tier food every second of it, this really shouldnt be an issue. With the daily, reward tracks, rank up chests and loot you should be making more than enough. If you’re not getting money well stop eating food cause it obviously aint helping.
