I had to spend hours in pvp over Christmas to get an exo rebreather you cant in reality use in pvp, very negative experience for someone who hates pvp, thanks for that.

Need map completion in order to craft a ledgendary which I have all the other mats for. I have no interest in any pvp (including wvw) and my world has been green-blue-green-blue I have every point in all boarderlands and eternal except main red keep eternal poi and vista. Every day I log on a couple of times and check, we have never taken it, I suggest taking it and are laughed at/insulted.

I get that the number of GW2 palyers is falling, interest in the game is at an all time low (hence the number of people talking about expansions) and ANet need everyone to play all game modes in order to maximize their income/make it look like people still play gw2, however, this is a very negative experience for people to go through. I used to play 2 hours day ish, now its down to 15 mins (time to check wvw and get daily log in reward) – im loosing interest in the game by being forced to play in a way I do not find fun.

I get that xmass is only a couple of weeks and I could have started years ago with wvw map completion however as I have said, I have no interest in pvp, I was never going to go into pvp unless forced and I was never going to enjoy it. I also get that crafting ledgendarys is supposed to be hard however it should still be fun and waiting months in wvw, being insulted/laughed at is not fun.

pvp and pve should be totally separate, you should not have to do one in order to complete aspects of the other, people should be free to enjoy playing the game and not be forced to play in a way they find negative/dislike. For over a month I have found GW2 to be frustrating and annoying, yesterday a colleague asked me what MMO games I recommended – my reply was “dont play wow as its too expensive and will suck up all your time and dont play gw2 as its not fun”.

Its funny as for over two years I would actually have recommended GW2 because I found it to be a game you could have fun playing how you wanted, this is no longer the case for me and it makes me sad.

I didn’t get the exo aquabreather. Didn’t even think about it. As it’s not like we fight underwater very much. I did pvp over the holiday but I used it to get the dungeon accessory.

You are not forced to. You want that aquabrather ? Work for it. You want a legendary ? Work for it.
It’s a choice you make, you can play and enjoy the game without legendary, nobody forced you to want them.
I didnt like to do wvw completion also, but I did it because I wanted the 100% on characters, and that wasn’t that bad, just a quick look at wvw map and if the part I needed was avaiable I ran there.
I didnt have a gun pointed at my face, and neither do you.

If you have no interestest in the game anymore, it’s on you, it’s not because of a stupid reward track or because Anet sucks for not giving you a legendary.
Stop complaining and aim for what is at your range.
If you need a legendary to enjoy the game, then yes you should close it and play something else.

Plus, in life, you also need to do things you don’t like in order to get something you convoit. You are just whining because we don’t offer you want you want in a silver plate.

You can have fun in this game, it depends on you, don’t need to be a crybaby.

It’s not like you’re forced to map to get a legendary, you can always buy one. It’s not like you need an exotic waterbreather, there’s not much underwater content and people have used masterwork/rare ones this whole time. You just want these items but don’t like the way they were implemented, in which case if it’s not fun for you to get you shouldn’t. But that doesn’t mean you can’t keep playing the game and enjoying the parts you already do. And if you think you can’t enjoy a game because of a few tiny pvp related things then you probably didn’t enjoy it much to begin with before that.

Basically if you want those things do them and appreciate that this game has 3 game modes and if you choose to limit yourself to 1 then you’ll limit yourself to certain things in game. It’s a choice issue not an Anet issue.

I wish Anet will get rid of map completion in PvE and WvW maps and just give it for PvP players who like to play in costum arenas or else I am going to run around and scream that the game is dying.

Lightsbane, I kind of understand your point in that there’s far more to get in PvE than WvW, however they are much more easilly accessible and not hidden behind fortified walls that can be defended by enemy hoardes. Getting some particular points can be difficult especially if your server is particularly weak or doesn’t rotate to a given colour. You can legitimately try for days, or weeks to get a given PoI in WvW yet any PvE map can be earned within 2-3 hours.

Bandito Baba, I do somewhat feel your pain, however you’ve made choices. You have chosen to pursue a legendary and as such you’re going through WvW map completion. It is something that you particularly do not enjoy yet you’re doing so because you want the carrot on the end of the stick. The same in regard to the Exotic Waterbreather. There is comparatively little underwater combat and our existing gear is more than sufficient yet you’ve chosen to pursue this given item. You’ve made a decision that the end item to you was worth the time spent in PvP to earn it.

You have made choices concerning how it is that you wish to play the game, and now you’re here complaining about the choices you have made. I understand your frustrations, yet I do not sympathize.

that’s my point, to get over it, and i did, i got over it. now i’m back doing what i prefer to do. just complaining without understanding there’s two sides to this argument, is a bit ill advised. pve map completion felt longer than it was(and took me weeks to do because it was so mindbendingly boring), and i guess i was one of those rare people that ran for the hills to get my wvw maps complete when enemies weren’t on it.

Seriously though, just deal with it. If someone like me has to grind hours upon hours through the most boring game mode in GW2 (PvE) to get my legendary Sunrise skin then you shouldn’t complain about having to do a little bit of PvP to get your aqua breather.

Wasn’t aimed at you, seems we are in agreement anyhow. It is difficult to get world completion sometimes, but by no means impossible. When I was doing mine for the first time (out of 3 now) when all I had left were the WvW objectives, it made it like a whole new game for me, and I enjoyed it unlike some around here. It added value to my game instead of giving me something to complain about.

Since you despise WvW (which I don’t consider PvP, but a kind of PvE with some slight risk [no repair or waypoint cost if defeated]), it can not matter to you which Server your account resides on. Save up some Gold, exchange to Gems, and transfer to a Server that is often Red. Voila! Problem solved.

Good luck.

I guess the only question is why is an exotic aquabreather worth so much to you that you felt you had to PvP to get it?

Is there some underwater stuff you can’t do with your green aquabreather?

I decided that the exo aquabreather was not worth my time to go play sPvP, but I would still like to see that item available in the parts of the game that I do play regularly.

I would like to see a lot more items distributed across the game more or less evenly, but Anet prefers the carrot and stick.

Play the game how you want to play? What a joke.

Play how you want never EVER meant getting every reward you want for playing how you want. That’s the nature of games. You get specific rewards for doing specific things. Even Guild Wars 1 was like that.

Forced? FORCED? are you kidding me? Who is focing you do to it? You sir can skip dailyes completly. Even act they are not there. Pvp daily is literally done in one match. One played match. Pve is mining 3 ore nods and view a vista. Omg that IS sooo hard. WvW is kiling one dolyak and capture a point. Again, that sounds nearly impossible to achieve!!!

And i dunno if you noticed, but, you can do pvp, pve or wvw daily. Instead of posting a kitten lazy post about “forcing” you to to something in game, you could actually do your daily.

Forced is the wrong word. But imagine this.

Suppose you actually played for achievement points. That was your game. A lot of people do. Anet has just changed your game. That’s what this is all about.

You don’t care about min/maxing or whatever. You only care about getting achievements. Again, there are a lot of achievement people out there.

Anet has made it harder for those PvE people to get achievements, and they don’t like it. It’s changed their game.

The part I ‘ll point out is that mapping the WvW realm (something that I still haven’t finished, since the two points I need have been solidly in enemy control since release) is TEDIOUS. Three of the four maps are identical.

OP, all I can suggest is that you do what I’ve been doing for over two years. Check the BL’s regularly while you play. Odds are that eventually, one day, they’ll be unlocked.

Failing that, you’ll be stuck where I am, at 99% with one PoI and one vista remaining, knowing that it’s likely never going to be completed.
