Guild Wars 2

I ran fotm many times, before and after the recent release fixes. Needless to say, there are times when things get ugly, but this one takes the cake for me.
I joined a lfg party for lvl 18 to do my daily. Things went relatively smooth the first two fractals. On the 3rd one we got the giant. One dude who has twilight started taking charge. We get to the 3rd level and he instructed everyone to leave both chanters at the near switch up at all times. No one objected so I didn’t say anything. It’s scale 18 afterall, no big deal.
We get to the boss and Mr legendary starts giving us instructions on how to stack on the boss so he would keep dropping the hammer. we finally got going, and when the hammer drops, everyone stacked, the dude picked it up and hit the seal. The boss didn’t drop the hammer again. Instead he did his aoe circles and we wiped. The gentleman proceeded to explain that in order for the trick to work people should not hit the boss at all. On the 2nd attempt we try just that, and the same thing happens. Only this time when clearly it wasn’t working as planned and people started dying, I dodged out. The fearless leader who wanted to single someone out started yelling at me for moving out of the pile. I pointed out that when I’ve seen this work, people were aoe-ing the boss and he drops the hammer right away. If the aoe circles show up then you gotta move out and fight it normal. The guy didn’t want to hear it so I agreed to do what he said. I did exactly as instructed, stacked, didn’t hit the boss and surprise surprise same thing happened. Out of frustration I typed “lmao” and proceeded to try to reason with the guy… as I’m typing, he posts that I’m the reason it failed cause I didn’t attempt to rez people… and I get booted from the group… sigh.

And that is why you don’t exploit bosses, especially easy ones. But oh well, I’m sorry for you, better luck next time

Sorry to hear your story, it is the reason I rather stick to guild groups because it’s old news that PUGs can be a royal p.i.t.a.

Also nicely illustrates that legendaries above all signal time and money invested and are hardly correlated to skill in the game.. :-)

All in all, I’d advise you to search for a good guild and run your dungeons with them. This game does an appalling job on the guild front, but there are good, social guilds out there. It’s just a matter of finding them.
