Disclaimer: this isn’t a bug report, it’s a frustration report.

My account is hit by a particularly nasty bug that prevents everything from resetting at the daily reset. This includes daily achievements, orichalcum veins and ancient saplings, world boss chests, once per day per account crafting, etc. Needless to say, the bug has cost me a great deal of gold over the last 15 days. Support tickets have been met with copied and pasted replies. The thread on this subject in the Bugs sub-forum has gone ignored.

With the upcoming Features Patch and the high cadence of the Living Story, I can’t help but feel this issue is so far down the list of prioritizes that it’s not going to be fixed anytime soon (or possibly at all, if the number of players affected is particularly low). At this point, my frustration far outweighs my desire to play; and I’m starting to feel this bug will be the end of my time in Tyria. So, what’s a guy to do? Any advice?

Of course it’s on low priority. Your issue has nothing to do with content or the game devs who design feature patch content.

You have a bug, a particularly nasty one, but I don’t see why that means guys like Foreman or Izzy should work on it. That’s not their job.

Furthermore, 15 days may not be enough to fix your issue. Considering that is ’a very isolated case, it can be extremely difficult figuring out why it happens.

What can you do? Nothing but wait.

Have you uninstalled and re-installed the game? I think your issue is on YOUR end, not theirs. I believe you might have a corrupted *.dat file.

Indeed, the issue must be on your end. Try logging in from another computer.

The bug is actually four months old (at least), but I’ve only been affected by it for the last half month.

What can you do? Nothing but wait.

Therein lies the rub. If you and I both agree that the chances of this bug being looked at with any sense of urgency are slim, and the chances of a timely fix are less than that, what exactly am I waiting for?

Have u tried repairing your client? I had a weird bug where i had constant problems interacting with objects/npc’s etc. Like i would click to mine a ore or chop wood and nothing would happen. Sometime, after a few tries it would suddenly work, or if i walked away then approached it again it would work, but not all the time.

I repaired my client due to another issue and it seems to be working fine now. That was about a month ago, so keeping my fingers crossed.

So if you haven’t already done it, may be worth a try, it may resolve your issue as well.

I can’t for the life of me see how this bug would be on the client side.

It’s more likely his account is bugged, server side. All the resets and such would never, ever be stored on the client side. Far to open to hackable.

Hey dude you are walking into a wall.

It can’t really be on client side since ALL resets are handled server side (hence why it’s on server time, and DST and such are affecting it…..), the worst that could happen on the client side would be for displays not to reset PERIOD.

That wouldn’t bar him from doing the things and earning rewards, he would just lose the ability to track them.

If the resets aren’t happening on his account, it’s a server side problem, and a ANet problem, meaning he is screwed for quite long sadly.

When the server reset it doesn’t check if the account did something in the last 24 hours, it just resets, for example, if in my account I do a CoF P1 run 10 mins before reset, after 11 mins I can do it again and get full reward.

Other thing is that the validation if your toon/account did a daily action is when you load your current instance, like if you gathered a fixed rich node before 1 min before reset and keep logged in the map, after the reset the node wont appear, you need to exit the map and enter again.

Also, how do you know your account have that bug for 4 months but only affected now?

Lastly, I really doubt that ANet support just ignored your tickets, they probably answered you with something.

If his DAT file is corrupt, it could be trying to reset and can’t. I think he should either fix his dat file or reinstall the game.

Yeah, considering the last logged in date bug they once had in the guild info screen, it wouldn’t be surprising they still have some issues with date calculations.

To remove any doubt, reinstalling the game did not fix the problem. It’s on ArenaNet’s end.

This bug is not isolated to OP. I’ve seen a number of threads about it, including this one.

I know this sounds crazy, but try playing with the clock on your computer or checking it, particularly the year. I seem to remember reading something about that.

Had this bug for weeks after the megapatch. Fixed when I started a new char, though I dont know for sure if it was connected. No explanation from Anet.
In mapchat it seems someone mention this bug it every week.
Good luck

Have you repeatedly farmed stuff as much as possible as fast as possible, with every respawn and stuff?

Well, it could be that you’ve accumulated too much DR (Not certain if it affects alot of things, since ANet has their “game mechanics are company secrets” policy).

Atleast for me, I try to avoid repeating stuff on same areas, I kill every world boss atleast once each, farm nodes from Orr once and so on, in once a day basis.
And I don’t have issues like nodes not respawning or rewards being diminished.

Daily achievements, I have seen no problems there either. So I dunno what it could be with those, unless some company secret functions of DR.

I’m a casual PvE adventurer, I enjoy combat, adventure and helping, but not farming.
I rarely do PvP or Hard PvE, unless it’s organized.

that was my thought having the clock wrong on your computer messes with a lot of games in weird ways

Changing the clock (forward one day, back the next) had no effect. Reinstalling had no effect. Contacting Support has resulted in nothing but half a dozen copied-and-pasted replies (literally six identical replies, word for word the same).

This thing has hit me six days in a row now, and eight of the last ten. That’s a lot of lost gold, laurels, achievement points, time-gated crafting, world boss chests, and T6 materials I’ve been denied by a bug that’s gone unfixed for four months. It’s obvious this bug isn’t a high priority for the devs, and it’s left me virtually unable to progress in any meaningful way. At this point, I’m ready to just give up entirely and find another game to play. So this is sorta a goodbye post. Take care, and be nice to each other.

You might try one last thing. Post your ticket number and story in Tickets for review-3 days and older.

Maybe Gaile can’t help you, but it’s worth a try.

It’s been suggested in the other pertinent thread over in Game Bugs. I’m guessing he’s not keen on that, though I don’t really know.

Gaile’s previous responses have been posted in that thread, as well. It seems no one has posted their ticket numbers for review lately. /shrug
