Hi guys, So I just got into gathering recently. I noticed that several gathering nodes stay the same for a whole day. Has anyone researched how frequent they are changed? Bcoz so far with 3 days gathering routine, The second day and the third day have quite similar nodes for a whole day, Only the first day has different nodes location.

Map in this case is timberline falls.

As far as I know, some nodes stay the same, and some nodes are random. Rich nodes are generally always the same. For instance the Gallowfield’s Waypoint in Brisband Wildlands is always rich with iron nodes, and the Rich Iron Vein is always in the same place. But I have been in map instances before where I chose to volunteer for a more populated map, and the nodes I was going to farm were completely gone when I swapped instances before hitting them.

some rich nodes are in fixed position, while some are dependent on the megaserver ip address . the golden era of mining was before the implementation of megaserver where you can basically guest to another server to farm the recurring rich nodes.

I don’t know if there is official information on all of it but these are my observations.
1) because of the megaservers, map shards will spawn and despawn as people move in and out of a map.
2) a map shard will keep all its regular nodes in the place they originally spawn until it empties out of people and the shard despawns. Once a new shard spawns the nodes will be in new places.
3) regular nodes don’t spawn completely randomly. They will spawn in the same set of locations. The number of places one regular node may spawn is unknown.
4) some rich nodes are permanently located in one spot
5) other rich nodes have a limited number of places they spawn in each map

So if you are seeing nodes in the same place over a period of time, the most likely possibility is you were arriving on the same map shard each time. When it changed was because that map shard finally despawned then respawned and the node sites were reshuffled.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Normal nodes are different for each map shard. Use /ip to check if u’re on different ones.

Rich nodes in low level maps are fixed. Use this as guide
https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1xffs0/permanent_rich_ore_locations_30_final_version/

for nodes in the 3 orr maps use this site: http://gw2nodes.com/
it depends on community contribution so keep that in mind.

I know that permanent ones are fixed. But for the normal ones, I found out that they are fixed for one day also. I guess because I ended up at the same map for the whole day instead of getting another new map that I hadn’t visited on that day.

This is why maps like blootide coast and sparkfly fen have inconsistent nodes since people come and go for teq and triple trouble. This is my discovery so far and it does make sense with all your information. thx.

/ip is your friend. It gives you the IP of your current map, and if the ip changes
you will have a differet layout of the ressources.
In case of timberline falls .. there will also be another rich platin vein near the
jotun camp on every instance of the map.

EVERY MMO is awesome until it is released then its unfinished. A month after release it just sucks.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
