Why is this required ?
You need 5 box of fun to craft legendary. 320 gems

Can we expect more gem store items to be required for crafting new legendaries ?

Sure. Why not? A legendary keyblade sword that requires a gift of keys made from black lion keys.

Only for Quip and Moot.

They are contained in achievement chests, no need to purchase anything.

And to the person above, 2 legendaries require Box of fun to make gift of entertainment, Quip and The Moot. I’ve made both and didn’t spend a Gem on a single box of fun for either.

Kitten.

Fascinating, I’d never noticed that!

Definitely not new. I had a similar reaction when I first found out about the ingredients then 3 years later I almost have enough to craft 5 legendaries.

The OP have been active on these forums for over 2 years. It is extremely unlikely that this is new information for him/her/it. It simply seems like people are running out of things to complain about.

The vast majority of people aren’t going to know the exact ingredients of crafting every legendary available, or even care. See a few posts up for example. Since precursor crafting will make the process more like a quest, a lot more people will be looking into them for the first time in the near future.

I concur with the OP, a more reasonable item that can be obtained through natural gameplay should be used instead.

I suggest charged lodestones for Quip to explain the glowing of the weapon, and charged lodestones in addition to silver doubloons to explain the silvery glowy nature of The Moot.

And once again, as long as we can convert gold→gems, it doesnt matter.

If it require gemstore items, its still just a gold cost. Like building any other legendary.

Boxes of fun can be obtained during natural gameplay. You get them guaranteed in AP chests for every 1K achievement points. And an RNG chance from regular AP chests.

320 gems don’t cost that much- less than 100 gold. That’s cheaper than buying all the lodestones that many other legendaries require.

Absolutely agree.

And this is assuming you haven’t gotten any from AP rewards, or got a few left over from the previous random daily achievement rewards.

I think it could be compared to the Icy Runestones, where you have to buy them and there is no other way of obtaining them (through regular game play). However, the gold can be earned and can be exchanged for them.

The only aspect of it that I can understand a complaint, is that the gold price for a Box o’ Fun (through the gemstore) is a bit unstable and will probably continue to increase throughout the game’s life due to the steady gold-to-gem conversion cost. But once again… this can be likened to many other items purchasable through the TP- as gold becomes easier to obtain (through effective, easy farming), the purchasing power of gold will decrease, and items will “cost more” gold.

  • This requirement isn’t new; it’s been there since the game launched.
  • I agree it’s weird and it put me off at first.
  • However, I haven’t spent a time on them and even after deleting and using a bunch, I have 25 left over — they drop from login rewards and AP chests.

tl;dr the requirement is weird, however if you are patient, you won’t spending any gems.

Convert gold → gems buy them.
Get them from achieve chests.

You have access to them without spending any real money and gold → gems is cheaper than Lodestones if bought at the right time.
