Given the very slow rate of story progression (what is it, 2 years now?), I would like you guys to estimate what year we will be able to kill off the 6th and final elder dragon.

I’m gonna start with a fairly optimistic estimate of 2020.

I really hope every new story in the game does not revolve around fighting an elder dragon… pretty much the most boring kind of antagonist you can get.

Well…. Scarlet wasn’t a dragon… and people turned around and bluntly told Anet that they should be focusing on the dragons, as they are the primary antagonists of the game.

Now you guys are saying you want someone else, not the dragons…..

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

1. I never said that
2. Scarlet kinda sucked
3. Dragons are even more boring
4. Why does EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this forum jump at the chance to point out when some people disagree with something other people have said? Big surprise everyone! We don’t all agree!

1. I never said that

I said “people.” Not specifically you. I wasn’t one that told them that either. It doesn’t change that people had a snit about it.

2. Scarlet kinda sucked

I didn’t think she was that bad, but everyone has their own opinions on it. shrug

3. Dragons are even more boring

“Insert anything you want here” are more boring. It’s going to depend on how it’s presented and how the game play goes. The fact remains that the Elder Dragons are (and have been since well before launch) the big bads of the game story.

4. Why does EVERY SINGLE PERSON on this forum jump at the chance to point out when some people disagree with something other people have said? Big surprise everyone! We don’t all agree!

I was pointing out the contradiction you are presenting, which also highlights how no matter which group Anet chooses to “cater to,” someone is going to be unhappy.

I’m well aware that we aren’t going to all agree.

Still, beyond all of that, I find it unlikely that we will “only” have the dragons as baddies. Should Cantha and Elona ever return to the game, additional baddies have already essentially been set up for those campaigns (The Emporer, and Joko) that aren’t dragons.

Don’t look at me like that. Whatever you’ve heard, it’s probably not true.

2032 – all elder dragons are dead
2057 – Finished Magumma
2073 – second set of new skills – 1 new healing skill for each class
3147 – monkeys take over ANet and finish doing all zones and LS3

Zerk is the average Joe build. Don’t pat yourself in the back too hard.

As long as possible ideally. I don’t see the gain of killing off all the dragons – I’d rather see it being a constant war against these foes. I was a bit surprised when we killed Zhaitan in the ps to be honest. Poor fight aside, it was still a bit anti climactic.

These are beings who caused havoc over periods of time, lay dormant for thousands of years. If all 6 are destroyed within a few years….that makes them a bit rubbish in my book.
