The nerf to everything was not only nerf to gold generation, but also (and even more) to item supply. Less supply → bigger prices → inflation goes on.

Actions, not words.

there are still ways to farm items and money in game, some even better than the trains. The only things that have been nerfed are champ trains (and not all of them as the few coins in bags weren´t the big thing) and dye daytrading/gambling. People will flock to other pastures and continue to generate gold and items.

may I ask what those are? trains were already a slow way of income, dungeons are okay, but they take a long time for 1-3 gold, and I don’t log on to GW to mess with stock prices like EVE.

so that means there is none then? great. all the things google says is “play the market” well that is boring and not what GW is designed for Imo. and the obvious gold selling sites.

Well, playing the markes works in a lot of ways. You don’t neccessearily need to start spending all your spare time sitting infront of price lists (even though a lot of the more profitable areas involve the trading post), there is some decent crafting, mystic forging, gathering (for example certain cooking ingredients), salvaging and sure, the most profitable of all (given that you already have a decent amount of gold to spare) : speculation.
Still, the gold nerf shouldn’t do too much harm since a few gold sinks like repairs are gone and they need to make up for that somehow.

Play the game, maybe? I do no farming and have never suffered from a shortage of gold, even though I net maaaaaaybe an hour and a half of game time each week, if I’m lucky. Just take part in current events and enjoy yourself, the gold will come.

The only ones who benefit from a gold Nerf are those with tons of gold already and Anet.

I really doubt the few gold sinks that have been removed off set the complete nerf of every way people farmed for gold in this game. I can’t remember the last time I even needed to repair or respec my characters. This will end up pushing players toward playing the market and gold sellers. The one thing it sure doesn’t do is encourage people to actually play the game. Add better loot to dynamic events and add more events if that is Anets big deal in GW2.

Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if the champ train was nerfed because it created a toxic environment in one of the most populated starter zones. What if you’re a new player fresh to the game and have no idea what is going on. The map chat trolling caused by the train is another reason.

Champ farming was mostly pointless and simply boring. Anet wanted to encourage people to do other things in the game but perhaps Anet went about it wrong. Instead of nerfing, maybe Anet should have made events on other maps give better rewards to get people away from the champ trains.

And I’m sure some chose to do other things in another game.

The irony is that the Queensdale train is still semi-viable while the Frostgorge one (where people should be) got utterly rekt.

While they nerfed all the ways you can make gold in game, they didn’t nerf the ability to just buy it with real money. Meaning there’s going to be an influx of gem store gold without the supply that comes from farming. You can expect all prices to rise significantly.

Well, I did check gw2crafts.net ant it looks as though the amount of gold needed to go from 400 to 500 in armorsmithing has dropped by about 20 gold at the time of the patch, so you might have actually got things backwards.

Or not. I dunno. I never was that good at economics.

one day is not enough time to say the patch affected anything. Those that are complaining see that this patches’ overall long term affect will be to make the economy worse so that buying gold will look more favorable.

fractals loot are bad dungeons takes a lot of time to make , world events have an arranged schedule so if you wanna do lets say karka queen you will have to camp it then the same thing happens with tequatl the overflows , you can still produce gold but now its a lot less fun and open for people who dont wanna spend 8 hours in the game , it feels like this patch is a setback
