I have an idea that I believe many would like to have as an option in their guild. I have a guild with some of my friends on the server “ring of fire”, however we are not so satisfied with the name we chosen.
One thing we came up with which would be great, was if there were an reward in the politics (in the guild panel) that was an “change guild name” reward.

say if this costs 1,000 influence, and the guild REALLY wants to change its name. then people would begin to start playing more to get this reward.

however, it would be quite stupid if people changed their guild name everyday, so I thought a guild could only change its name every month.

if this could be something, then:
-people would might play more to earn this reward
-people would be more satisified with their guild name
-it can only happen every month, so it wont become something dumb.

I would like to change guild names as well. I think it would even be acceptable if we could only change it every 6 months, or even every year, or even just once.

A guild name is just as important as a character’s name when it comes to reputation. So it should be very difficult (expensive) to change a guild or character name. Somebody with a poor reputation or a guild for that matter should not be able to done a whole new identity for gold or influence. Both are far too easy to come by. Gems seems to be the only realistic manner in which anybody should be able to change a guild or character name.

Fair points and agreed. It should be restricted by time and require gems. But the option would be nice.

Yeah, it would be really nice to have some option for changing a guild’s name. I would really like to see the reasoning of whomever decided against it. Seems like a pretty obviously desirable thing to me, and I can’t begin to imagine what BS reason was devised as to why it wasn’t worth including in the game.

Then again, same goes for build saving, though there’s at least some hope we’ll get that with the expansion.

Yes, I think most of us just want an option, no matter how Anet would choose to implement it. Sure I could just spend 50 silver and create a new one, but it can take several months to build up influence for the unlocks. The only reason I can think of for them not doing this, is that it would be very difficult (the same reason they will very rarely change an account name).

A good idea. I mean, if you can change your name, I don’t see why a guild couldn’t do it too. Happens in real life all the time.
