It will never happen

AHAHAHA!
Good one.
Just visit the Tech Support fora if you actually don´t have a clue why I´m laughing.
A recent interview (http://gamingbolt.com/guild-wars-2-interview-we-talk-to-areanet-about-how-the-mmorpg-has-been-doing-post-launch) indicates (p2) that no one’s currently working on a console port. They only reference it as something a small team used to be looking at, not as a current project, definitely not a priority.

this is great news, thanks for the info!
now hopefully we can get some major improvements to combat, skills/powers and the ui that are fitting for a pc mmo.

Theres no reason a mmo shouldnt be ported over to a console, dont need to be an elitest about it. If anything it would help save this game.

And would the console players be on their own servers? Because as it is, Xbox has its own network and PS3 has its own network that online gaming has to go through. Xbox COD players can’t play with PS3 COD players. Console versions would fracture the playerbase.

FFXI is an MMO that has been on both the 360 and PS3 as well as PC…
FFXIV is on PC now and supposedly the finally anounced a release date for PS3 version – however that MMO won’t go to the 360 because it has a monthly fee – and MS wants to require players of that game to have a gold account (ie 2 monthly subscriptions).
I don’t forsee GW2 going to the Xbox unless MS retracts their decision to force MMO games to require a gold account, honestly not sure who was asleep when they allowed for FFXI to not require the gold membership.
I could see it going to PS3 – however consoles and PC’s don’t utilize the same input method so until we start seeing controller support I doubt it’s in our future. And if they’re wanting to focus on the game being an esport then it’s less likely to spread to consoles.

Microsoft has become increasingly stingy with gaming over the last year or so (windows 8 forces everyone to go through their store if they want access to all the features… and if games through the Windows Store end up like games on the 360; it will take a long kitten time for studios to get patches out because they would have to be “certified”).
If they could get it so that console players could not only play with other consoles, but PC players too; then it wouldn’t be so bad.
1. Consoles have aim support, console gamers would have an advantage against PC gamers with the automatic lock on a target.
2. This game graphically is advanced. Porting it would mean dropping its quality significantly.

FFXI did network players between consoles and PC’s… dunno what Square Enix had to do to make it happen but it’s more than possible it’s been done since at least 4 years ago.
I wonder what kind of FPS it would get on a PS3 and 360?
Arenanet will actually die if they made a console version.

Look at how many patches they need for the game, and their track record for even doing good patches.
“it doesn’t make you spend hours preparing to have fun, rather than having fun”
Guild missions say otherwise.

You do know there are settings right? FFXI for the PC had graphic settings, that the consoles didnt, MAYBE the consoles couldnt run on ultra, BUT they could run on medium, and your 1st answer is so full of wrong lol.
They wouldn’t put it on console every patch costs them money on console. However on Wii U patches are free for a company to do. So maybe…
I could see it potentially coming out on the next generation of consoles: ps4/xbox 720, simply for the fact that current consoles just wouldn’t be able to handle the massive scope/graphics of this game. This is assuming ArenaNet fixes the the majority of bugs/issues currently plaguing the game
Never, please. Thank you.
I would love to see this game on consoles.
Imagine running split screen fractals with your friends.
Or loading the zerg in WvW with your CPU from 10 years ago because this game wasn’t optimised to use a graphics card. That’s normally the kind of thing you see in a console port fyi.
Wouldn’t be surprised, would expand the market at least.
the pc version of ffxi had better graphics than the console version but both played on the same servers.1. Consoles have aim support, console gamers would have an advantage against PC gamers with the automatic lock on a target.

Yea, pc players would dominate console players just because of the superiority of mouse and keyboard. Even if they had aim assist (which I believe has been taken off for the new CoD etc). So ya, in short, console players play in their own little world so they don’t get their little bums kicked by the pc players :o For MMO’s there simply isn’t enough inputs on the controller to play it effectively not to mention, inventory managing to be extremely hard. Then and again, they could plug a mouse and keyboard into the console but then why console eh.
Best solution if you want a console port would be to plug your computer into your TV, and plug a gamepad into your computer. There’s probably enough controls on a pad to play, as long as you don’t have any ground-targeted skills.
Once you have a gamepad setup that works flawlessly (including ground-targeted skills) then… Wait, that’s just as good as a console port, so why are you complaining?
