When will guild wars 2 have heirlooms in the future like world of warcraft does?

Even better than heirlooms, we have the ability to instantly level our alts all the way up to 80 without ever leaving the starter town thanks to birthday scrolls and Tomes of Knowledge.

It does already. There are account bound items with selectable stats even at lower levels that out-stat things normally findable at that level. Some are craftable.

Now, they don’t keep scaling up with level like the WoW ones. On the other hand, leveling in GW2 is so much faster and easier than in WoW that there’s no huge need for scaling gear. Especially since you can generally do just fine with drops, leveling rewards, and occasional cheap TP purchases as you push up towards 80.

I believe I have gotten them as mob drops, chest drops, and champion bag drops. I always get really excited because I got a rare/exotic weapon, only to find out that it was just a leveling item that has no chance at a glob of ectoplasm.

Because they are account bound, you cannot buy them on the Trading Post.

The personal story also has a few steps that give these as rewards.

Oh, so that’s why some people have started calling low level alts ‘heirlooms’.

It’s a vast improvement over ‘twinks’, less awkward confusion with other uses for the word.

I’ll point out that the stat selection is limited. Basically two choices, I think. I’m not 100% sure they are better stats than at-level gear except that I don’t bother buying rare/exotic for sub 80 alts for the most part so these are a bonus.

If I remember to look for them in the bank while leveling … mostly they are just filling up slots in my bank, to be honest.

For acquisition, leveling to 80 creates some of them as level rewards.

Ahah. Sorry for double posting. I found the crafting thing: Ineffable. If you want to make leveling gear for alts and are willing to invest the mats, take a peek at https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ineffable

The closest to heirloom weapons is the bloodbound weapons (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Bloodbound_weapons). However, they are extremely expensive and completely not worth it when you have tomes of knowledge and account-bound gear like ascended items.

Actually, we do now have ‘Heirlooms’. The Bloodbound weapons purchased from Faction Provisioners are account bound rare weapons that scale their power with the character weilding them, they are also stat resettable.

You can read about the Bloodbound weapons here.

As above, they are not worth it with how cheap and quick it is to level and gear up at 80
