hey guys
so i made a post earlier about how i can’t switch order and some of the decisions I made
during my personal story

i am considering deleting my character and make a new one
let’s put our heads together and think
what do I lose if i were to do that?

1.I know i lose my map completion all 57% of it
2. my character age will change, so i’ll lose some of the older birthday awards?
3. current personal story progress, but that’s something i want to change
4. all the soulbound items i have…which is quite a lot, even some ascended gear( kitten!)

anything else should I be mindful of?

First of all, ascended gear can’t be soulbound.

You don’t “lose” the birthday gifts you already received. If you store them on your bank, you’ll keep them. However, your new char will start with birtday gifts 1 and 2, so it will take a while to get to the newer birthday gifts.

I can’t think of anything else you would lose.

You have more than 1 character slot, there are 5. Why not just start a new character on one of those slots and keep your current character?

If its just about the order and personal story stuff its really not worth it. I only delete characters due to aesthetics i.e. race or if i just dont like the class. You can make another character with a different order.

If your character was created before April of last year, you’ll lose access to your traits. In fact, you’ll lose access to any traits you’ve unlocked thus far, on that character.

I don’t see the point of having 2 thieves…i want 1 of every profession
and I’ve already maxed out my character slots

@thana
what i meant was my seniority or birthday present privilege will change
but thanks about the ascended one, didn’t quite catch that

and u guys missed that I’ll have to grind to level 80 again
lol…

I did a quick number crunch, to regear my thief I’ll need about 50+ gold, at least
darn it!

You could join up with someone doing the story line you wanted to do and see all of that. Then you can continue your storyline and you can roleplay you are really in the other order and collecting information to report back. (The old “trust, but verify”) I’m sure having spies in other departments is something that Whisper agents would do.

Also, the stories merge together at Claw Island. Once you reach there, it doesn’t matter what the previous choice was. It all goes together. If you want the armor or weapon skins you can run a different char through and get them in your wardrobe.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

Agreed.

Why loose a character over some choices that another one could make differently?
My Asuran Elementalist who is Ferocious, joined the Vigil, saved some Quaggans and picked tons of story options that are better placed in the “I wear plater armor” category regrets nothing!

Well if it is that important to you then there really is only one option. Salvage or sell all soul bound items that can be, bank everything else, delete your character and start over. Consider it a new journey that will free yourself from the chains of your current order.

wow the way you put it makes me feel so much better lol
I guess it’s the roleplay aspect of it…I just can’t get over it

I can never even remember which Order my characters are in. It really has no impact on much of anything past Claw Island.

But, if it bothers you, and you would rather repeat what you have done previously, then deleting your L80 is the way to go.

Good luck.

Why don’t you wait a week and see if it still bothers you. You can even continue on to the claw island section then stop. If it’s still an issue to you after the week is over then delete, but you may find it’s not that important anymore since it’s not important to the story after that point.

Well, if you’re unhappy with it, you’re unhappy with it. I abandoned a perfectly good level 80 Sylvari necro to make a female Norn necro because I fell in love with the Demon Masque on the Norn and it didn’t look the same on the Sylvari (just colored an area on the temples). This was before the trait fiasco, but still, I’m happy with my Norn necro and it was worth the releveling. (And this was before Tomes of Knowledge or EOTM. She was leveled the slow way).

just don’t forget about your experience scrolls if you do start over. Starting at 20 instead of 2 really helps avoid a lot of the NPE hassle.

Do you have 64 slots already? I read that 64 is maximum.
If not, don’t delete a fully equipped 2 years old character, you’ll never know when it will become handy. Use a total makeover kit if you don’t like the look, and park it somewhere, near a chest. Use it as a mule if you want.
