hi all im currently playing AA but thats a story for another time love the game but i dont want to be to incased in it right now.. I saw the game on sell so thought well must be a sighn im currently downloading it but wanting to find the perfect class.. So i Love DPS but more or a caster was wondering if Necro or ENG would be best for me. i want to do PVP and PVE)) thanks for the time/.

Everyone can DPS. Engie is OP in pvp. Its also good in PvE but no one realizes it.

So u mean to tell me all classes are really close to balance… Sorry must be the shock of playing At where u got 1200 lasses but 7 work lol… Hmmmmm

If you like casting and dps, go for an Ele. Double dagger is fun, though I know some who will swear by the staff.

It’s more about how you want to do the damage than can you do the damage.

It’s also worth pointing out that being the “Tank” or “Healer” isn’t going to work in this game. There’s support, but not like in other games. No aggro management either. It’s mostly about DPS, giving and occasionally taking it.

If you like a good mix of casting style and melee, I’d suggest either an Elementalist (armed with paired daggers), or a Guardian (kind of a paladin-ish class).

I strongly suggest you avoid Mesmers and Engineers for your first character, they both work MUCH better once you have a good feel for how the game goes. Without that experience, they may seem frustrating and painfully under powered. With it, they’re two of the more interesting classes.

Ele is tricky until you get good at “stance dancing,” though, and is the most squishy profession. Still, try out a few to see what feels fun to you.

Also, this game is the opposite of AA in many ways. There is no node stealing, pvp only happens in consensual areas, griefing gets you suspended or banned, everyone who tags a mob gets kill credit and loot, anyone can rez anyone else (and should especially if they’re only downed not dead, you get xp for it, plus then you have more firepower handy for your fight). You get scaled down in lower level zones so you can’t just face roll them (ideally, that is; in practice a scaled down 80 just has better base gear and abilities, but it’s not like nothing can hurt you). The game does not create have and have-nots. No labor mechanic, no limits on necessary game items to those who pay real cash. Cosmetics, sure, there are armor skins you can’t get from game play, though you can save enough gold to get the gems to buy the skins if you want to avoid spending cash. But all they do is change what you look like; you cannot buy better stats.

Necros are part of the meta in WvW. In PvE they are efficient until you want to step in the speed clear meta, here they are not highly desired.

Necros are in essence a self reliant class with few tools to enhance the group. However, they have a degree of autonomy in PvE match by very few classes.

In low level PvP necros tend to be powerhouses, however in very high level PvP they tend to be left aside because of poor mobility.

Engies are according to some (I do not have an engie myself) a difficult class to learn in the beginning but can be rapidly mastered once you get used to the large number of skills available to you. They perform well in all areas of the game while not being at the top of the food chain in any.

In short, engineers are Jack of all trades of GW2.

All classes are able to reach high dps numbers. Don’t make your choice of class on dps potential alone.

Good part about this game is you can try different things. I have a couple slots I keep just for trying stuff. Races and Classes.

Warriors wear Heavy armor, as well.
