I do not understand this new option. What exactly does it do? What kind of “announcements” are going to be hidden, if I activate it?

I’ve only heard about WvW announcements. I’m not sure if it’s any/all of the yellow announcements across the middle of the screen, or it’s just certain (WvW?) announcements.

Pretty sure it’s to do with in-game adverts that happened during PvP esl tournaments, HoT beta events and the like. Many complained about the unremovable ads for it in the top right, near event notifications/story steps, and loading screens.

Not those because I just enabled it and I still get the corner advertisement about the upcoming monthly tournament.

which is a big disappointment to me. I preferred when they didn’t have the orange pvp spam messages in the corner, and switched to putting the message on loading screens. I didn’t mind it on loading screens. unfortunately those, and those tips that used to be there too, have been removed. so sad.

the option only seems to remove the yellow in game messages, like those in wvw and silverwastes.
