home portal stone, buyable in the gem store
is an inventory item, when double clicked.. it will transport you to your Home Instance
it does not function in wvw, or dungeons
once you are finished in your home instance, double clicking the item will return you to your previous location in tyria.. clicking the small door icon above your mini map will also send you to your previous open world location..
without the use of this item, the small door icon returns you to your Racial City.. you can still return to your Racial City from a ‘portal stone’ instance by leaving through the ‘physical’ exit or entrance..

account bound
also works in pvp ‘lobby’ map, heart of the mists

i just tested it out and it literally saves me 30 seconds or a singular waypoint fee lol

i can outswim a centaur!
when i’m done on an issue
i start talking in nerglish

If it was sent to all characters, like Hero’s Band or that Bank Golem fro Deluxe, then I’d buy it. As it is it is not very convenient.

I haven’t checked it out in the gem store, but if it has unlimited uses I’d say it’s a pretty decent item. Would save a helluva lot for a level 80 that ran world bosses/dungeons/events. If it’s a charge per stone, then it’s pretty useless.

Well you can’t use it in dungeons. It’s probably only useful for lazy people who want to gather the home instance with a single load screen and minimal interruption of your routine. Unless Anet makes the home instance more useful.

Lazy people? I don’t know. Maybe some people like the idea of being able to port into their Home Instance and back to their original spot in the world.

I can’t imagine why, at this time, as there isn’t much in the Home Instance yet, but maybe this has portends of things to come (in the Home Instance). Maybe it’s just the beginning of some grand plan for the HI. /shrug

I for one find it rather useful for daily gathering and then being able to go back to the original place with just one click ^^

I didn’t really mean lazy in a derogatory manner. Sorry if it came off that way.

Well nobody needs it anyway. You only have couple of nodes in home instance if you bought them. So… its for minority…
And yea you should not suppose to put it in bank so you can pick it up with another character, they should add some new icon on your hero panel so you can put that stone there, and use it with all characters…

I personally have enough nodes (more even) to completely my daily gatherer.

All the Meta-event ones + the two bought ones (basic ore and basic log).

Krall Bloodsword – Mesmer
Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square

Here is an example; that one salt you keep stashed at w/e jumping puzzle for daily loot (shout out to blade shards), has this stone and a ton of mining picks. You log in to alt, grab your loot, port to HI to mine nodes and get daily gatherer then port back. All that took a minute and a half and now you can swap over to your main to do dungeons etc and save yourself 2-8s to boot.

This item really isn’t bad I guess. I will, however, state that we VERY MUCH SHOULD have ACCOUNT-WIDE buttons/slots for things like the HI Portalstone, HoM Portalstone, ALL of the unlimited harvesting tools and ALL of the NPC Summoning items (TP, Merchant, Banker). These are items were ‘account bound’ makes them cumbersome via inventory space/management or the trouble of having to load 3-5 screens to swap via the bank method. For people who use many characters equally for different things, I don’t buy these ‘convenience’ items because the way the are implemented is more of a BURDEN to my gameplay/style.
