i have fat fingers and am color blind, having to do this bell ringer achievement is a bit much.. id understand 250 times, but i think 500 is completely over the top. because of that, im screwed for my 40 achievement points and mini. i have 10 of 11 achievements… im expecting to be more or less told i can go screw myself, but i also know that’s how gw2 has always done things. must be why they are losing players…

You don’t have to do 500, you just need 30 if I remember correctly, then it will count to the meta.

you need to do 500, the xmas meta has been stupified. in the sense, the infinite ones dont count but all 11 others are required.. its really stupid..

30 bell events is one achievment, 500 notes is another.

Right now I’m 4 and 84. Assuming scaling up to 30 events that’s 630 notes. I do one event a bell event a day, even two isn’t more than 5 minutes.

I find it more annoying trying to leave these Wintersday events and not get thrown back into it, getting the DR loading screen and then the event screen again.

It really doesn’t take all that long to get 500 correct bell notes. It’s not 500 rounds, or 500 songs, or 500 games. That would be a long, long time for some of us. Lol.

The first two songs are pretty easy. You need no sound on (I have mine turned off), and the colors don’t really matter. Just furthest left is the 1 key, next is the 2 key, then 3 and 4.
Skip the 5 key, then 6 – 0. Or if keyboarding it is difficult, use your mouse. I do, and it works fine for me. You actually do get better with a bit of practice, and you can skip the hard songs if you so desire, or just concentrate on hitting 2 or 3 keys/numbers. Even if you get thrown out/die, you get credit for every single note you get right!

And, there are still more than 3 weeks to get the Meta. I have confidence you could get 30 correct notes per day.

Happy Wintersday and good luck!

The colours don’t matter. Just make sure your skills are bound to keys in a line (default 1-0 or any other line), put one finger on each key (excluding the middle and the far right, 5 and 0 by default), position the camera behind and above your character and push whichever key corresponds to the right line.

The bit that seems to cause most people trouble is that you need to push the key as the note is crossing the circle, which seems like it would be too late and causes many people to push them too early. It takes practice to get it right but once you have getting 500 notes isn’t too bad.

No, because of people like you, requesting things like this, people are leaving.
Game is to easy.. it’s a kitten WIN-WIN game, which is offering no challenge to players like me… still waiting for GvG… because PVE offers no challenge.. ZERO (fractal/dungeons/JPS) all done trillionarion times..

Wish I could get back to GW1.. PvP-GvG. It feels like we are outcasted, not desired or rewarded..

Ignore the colours and just look at the order. 1-4 and 6-9 are going from left to right on the board (furthest lest is 1, furthest right is 9). Put your screen angle so it’s a top-down view and put your fingers on 1-4 and 6-9. Easy method to get the achievement. Was very frustrating for me at first, but after making the adjustments to my method that I did, I was able tog et from 0-500 in less than half an hour.

Good luck

Don’t work yourself up into a state. It’s not as bad as it looks and if you get better at the game, it’s not bad at all. It’s a couple of hours at most…during which time you continuously get wintersday gifts.

Yes, this – bind all 8 keys in one line. You have two options for every action, no excuse really. I do 5 6 7 8 9 0 – =

Place both hands over the 8 keys – four fingers from one hand and four from the other. Then imagine instead of guitar hero you’re playing “piano hero”.

Tbh I found it the easiest and fastest wintersday achievement. I find it more annoying that the dailies don’t count towards it this year so I am forced into doing toypocalypse…

I also pan the camera up to be above me and zoomed so I can see just my slice. Then it’s like any other music rhythm game.

Colors don’t matter at all, and even if you have “fat fingers”, you should be able to get at least a few correct notes per song. As other said, just use normal keyboard bindings for your top row number keys. Place your left fingers on 1, 2, 3, 4 (skip five, and leave out your thumbs) and right fingers on 6, 7, 8, 9. Aim your camera so it’s facing down onto the circle. Far left panel is one, second to the left is 2, and so on. Watch the lights, and just press the corresponding button as the light is about to hit you.

Lots of good advice in here! I’ll add that you should go for the Lower octave choice where you can, as you get far fewer notes to hit in that one. The first song of a round is a nice slow lob of notes 1-2-3-4 in Lower, so that’s 4 free ones for you. Look at the notes as they appear at the top — that’s when it’s easiest to see which “lane” they are in — and prep yourself to tap with the corresponding finger as the note crosses the white line.

Don’t fret over missed notes, any correct note heals you and once you are between songs you can spam a note to heal (make sure the game thinks you are between songs, last night I was damaging myself during the free-play moments so I learned to tap just once to check).
