why cant it just be like in pvp but with 1 more tab named PRESET\BUILD?
and if you DONT have 1 or more of the linked items in the build, you will get a popup window with the folowing question:
“you have missing something”
sword of shame
skill 7
trait XIII
(for example)
“do you still want to activate this build”?
ITS THAT SIMPLE!
same for pve\wvw but with more slots
6 for the accessories, 6 for armor, 2×2 wepons NO runes and sigils, and only the skills and traits you have unlocked.

and you can have a link option when right clicking on an item wep/armor/accessoriyes
and on traits tab just add a save a preset bottun and THATS IT!
i think its a briliant idea… really need that option…

what do you think?

Saved builds with the ability to auto equip different armor/weapons upon activation…

Has my vote, been wanting it since launch.

As long as you cannot do this on the fly and you’re only allowed to do it while at your spawn (in both PvP and WvW).

Thieves would have the biggest advantage in this game if you’re allowed to swap builds instantly out of combat. Just imagine being attacked by a power thief but you kick his kitten and he stealths, shadowsteps away quickly, breaks combat, and swaps to his condi build instantly (all while stealthed) then just attacks you again and destroys you.

That would be lame.

OK! but any 1 will be able to do THAT!
swap to a condi remuval then. and what u say is ONLY in WVW. so it can have some unic mechanics with wvw.
its much more balanced than this tiny asuras in pvp u hardly can hit for example.
any 1 see any other problem?

Exactly. So maybe a npc at citadel or spawn thats able to store your build and can only swap it there?

Give it a cooldown, say 1m30s

Would still be able to “abuse” it like Evilsardine said. If you swap your build ever 1.5min idk anymore.

You can do it currently in well under a minute when out of combat…. It’s just much more annoying.

Been suggested before and a dev replied to it….OVER A YEAR ago. It’s a kitten shame this should of been a day 1 feature. Not a oh the people want it now we are going to make them wait a long time for it…because you know…other things are more important like seeing which dyes you havn’t unlocked yet…so important. Yup I’m salty and don’t care.

i would def want that….but with a cooldown

I think to prevent abuse…a cd between 2 and 5 min between changes would be ok. If you want to change more often than that you would have to do it manually like now. That should prevent spam changes of builds but allow for more tactical changes in WvW for example when roaming and u see an enemy and want to use a counter build for it.

I agree with a cd. To be able to swap builds on the fly would be a headache in WvW and absolutely horrendous in sPvP seeing as any class could cheese an encounter simply by disengage the fight and changing the build soon as you holster your weapon. Not sure how it would be implemented without being exploited is the tricky part.

We’ve had a dev response much more recently than a year ago. Just in the last few months they said they agree build templates are a worthwhile idea, but they aren’t doing them as part of HoT. Probably they just didn’t have the resources to do that along with all the other work.

The cynic in me can see this as a feature for the gem store. something 800 gems to save one build on one character. and 150 gems per swap…

Would love the ability to save multiple builds and armour sets and swap between, was a great feature of the original and hope they bring it here.

In Second Life they do it with inventory links (they do not need to worry about skills and such). I would LOVE to see something like it.

This feature was in Guildwars 1.

GW1 also had alliances, factions, and guild halls. 1 down 3 to go i guess.

Factions for wvw instead of servers, alliances so that guilds can band together without losing their identity. Build saving for everything from pve to wvw to loading up the latest metagame builds (you could share your saved builds from GW1 too).

All of which should have been in THIS game from day 1. For the life of me, I can’t think of a sensible reason why they weren’t included.

I think to give it a long cast time. say 10 to 15 seconds. This way… Leave combat> Start cast> Any damage or hostile incoming intterupts> Takes 10-15 seconds that you cannot move. Then you have swapped. This would prevent players from abusing it. Also not sure if it would be a good thing in sPvp.

Your build is locked once the game starts in PvP anyway so its not an issue there.
