how do you sell expensive items?
Correct, you should price your item to sell if you need it immediately, or just wait. It is pretty rare for an item to not sell within a week, even if it is undercut a few times inbetween.
If you are worried then list it for a few gold less than the current lowest sell offer, or sell directly to a buy order.
Everything you said is right but if someone undercuts you there is no need to cancel the listing.
The TP is not an auction – buyers aren’t bidding on a single item and sellers aren’t competing with each other for just 1 sale. If someone undercuts you all it means is their item will sell first, it doesn’t mean yours will never sell.
What I do when I’m selling or buying anything is pick a price I think is likely to be met, then leave it up there for 15 days. It’s very rare that my transaction doesn’t go through, even if someone undercuts or outbids me.

Yeah I’ve listed a few moderately expensive items, and even though I got undercut by a number of people by the end of the day they still usually sold with a week or two, I don’t recommend rapid relisting, your profits go up in smoke really fast that way.

ah, i see, thanks everyone!
but what about expensive items?
like howl,
current highest buyer 391 gold offered.
current lowest seller 488.88.88 gold listed.
even if i list it at 488.88.87 it may be bought eventually after enough time passes?
how about the permanent black lion express contract?
same as well?
i list it one copper less then the current listing and just wait?
people may buy them eventually?
due to limited supply?
With patience. These things can take a few minutes to a few weeks to sell. You can use gw2spidy website look at item sale history. Just like you will undercut by one copper, others will do the same to you. I use info from gw2spidy, then look at the buy vs sell prices. It’s all up to you. Personally, if the buy price is 10-20 gold off from the sell price, I would just sell it. If it’s more than that, list it because someone like me would think “is 30 gold really worth starting a bidding war over?” Just how I do things
You need to wait. Sometime you are unlucky and a bunch of people get the Howler and sell them about the same time you do so the price go down and nobody buy your Howler. But don’t cancel the order, the price should go back up, it will just take a couple more weeks.
If you really want to make sure, you can take a look at gw2spidy and see the history of the item to try to figure out at which price you can put it so it will sell.
I listed the energiser and dawn for 10g and 15g less than minimum sell prices couple of weeks ago. Dawn sold within 2 minutes and energiser in 10 mins.
I personally never mess about with coppers even selling rares i just put it 1 silver less.
