Like what happens after someone is reported for botting?

I used to report all the time. But now I just sit back and watch the same people do it. I’ve played many MMOs, and seen my fair share of bots. I even spent a hot minute tinkering around with one called glider in world of warcrap. So its not like I’m ignorant when it comes to identifying a botter.

Yet I can hit a wp in GW2 and a stone throw away will be 6-12 people swimming/running the same route over and over again, the names of toons will change over a 2 week period, but its the same story, same accounts, same people, same names.

I must have reported them 10 times, yet they are always there.

anet says there is an ‘in depth complex behind the scenes’ investigation that goes on, but i’m beginning to think, that’s code for “We have 1 part time guy looking into it when he’s not printing shipping labels”

would it hurt to know more about what kind of things we SHOULD be reporting that will actually get LOOKED at when they do this top secret bot investigation?

I think that it is the same story as the other game you mentioned, they cannot give more details as they need to investigate behind the scenes to see how the bots are working and automating in order to set triggers in place to prevent that process from working again in their game.

Least that is what I always thought ….

Personally I would just watch, then IP / MAC ban the offending bots so that no matter the username, they still cant come back……
