how people still enjoy pve
Eh, but son, Arah solo is very rewarding. 20g+
Your ‘fun’ dungeons aren’t my cup of tea, at all. Lol, I think I’ve only done 4 or 5 dungeon runs, ever! Haha. I enjoy the open, open world…and I’m one of the despised few that enjoy the Living Story, most releases. I like having new things to do every 2 weeks, or so. Sorry to hear you are bored with the content you do like. Maybe the new year will bring some things you will enjoy. Good luck! =)
I simply enjoy it. It’s a vacation home. I still have not done all the heart quests more than once or got all the zones explored more than once. I’m on only my 2nd character and she hasn’t even gotten to Orr yet. I have only 2 of the 3 orders and haven’t done all of the dungeons yet even on story.
Not everyone chews through all the content, professions, races, weapon skills in a matter of months. In a game where you don’t pay monthly, why the rush?
RIP City of Heroes
I like open world PvE.
I like roaming around and doing events- I like running into people in the most unlikely places and the epic fights that can be had.
Just yesterday I was poking around the vault at the old Baradin Estate to get some kills, when the 3 champs popped- I was all alone so I just started on the first one when in wanders a little Asura engineer- we ended up killing all 3 it was epic and very fun.
I run into people and fun happens
I love the open world, even when I am alone it is awesome.
I PvE to enhance my enjoyment in WvW.
PvEing for the sake of PvEing… Can’t do it. Not in GW2. It’s too bland and lacking.
WvW is amazing though. Whether you’re winning or losing a fight, it’s always a challenge. At least it is in T1.

^This…
It’s great when you’re out there all by yourself and all of a sudden you’re running with another player or two, tearing up the content and having a blast. It’s not always about the rewards, and it’s not always the so-called grind (of which there is very little in this game, but that’s another thread entirely.)
Sometimes it’s just about wandering around.

I love to pick a random spot wonder around and see what happens. Some of my best moments in the game is taking down champions when you’re in really small groups, even as small as 2 people. Granted the other person needs to know what they’re doing and you need to support each other but its really satisfying and fun.
I like to hike. I like to walk in the woods. It’s not challenging. I don’t walk really fast, or really far. Also, I seldom walk alone. Usually I walk with a friend and make a day of it.
PvE in Guild Wars 2 is much the same for me. It doesn’t matter if I’m running a dungeon or completing a zone. I’m always noticing different stuff, trying different stuff, having fun with different people in my guild.
I’m not sure why people are so focused on challenge that they think it’s the only way to have fun. Surely movies aren’t often challenging but people watch them.
If the only way to have fun is to challenge yourself,. maybe you need to look at your motivation for that.
Me? I’m happy to just have a laugh with the guild, doing whatever.
The other day we ran a 14th level guildie to the gates of Arah to help him level. Trying to keep him alive was a blast. And sometimes it was really challenging. But then, our guild Christmas event wasn’t at all challenging and I enjoyed that too.
Agreed with the above.
The most enjoyable times I’ve had in game come from playing it cool, taking my time, enjoying the content with friends and running a dungeon or two with guildies. Its not about who can get the most gold or needing more content to consume, but taking it easy and making the most enjoyable use of your time in game.
They had to SPAWN MORE OVERFLOWS!
Agreed, some of the best times I’ve had is helping other players I come across trying to defeat a champ or mob and joining in for the kill, I’m pretty much a solo player in PvE but helping others is one aspect of GW2 that I really enjoy especially in the low levels where new players are trying to learn the dynamics of the game.
I spend a lot of time in Orr and it’s very common to come across a small group of players trying to take down a champ or run a event chain, even with the scaling it’s a lot of fun and does at times turn into a epic battle, people always for the most part work together and a shout out in map chat normally will pull people to the event so it is successful, people complain about the loot all the time but the battle is a lot of the time more fun to me and the loot becomes secondary.
