It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”
Is there a way to change the map shard you are on?
Trying to do orge wars, and it nearly always puts my on the same map (IP: 64:25:38:61:0)
This map the event is bugged.
I’ve tried to relog and WP to another map, and back. But still the same IP.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
No there isn’t unless you are in a team with someone in a different shard, then you can r-click their portrait to join them.
It is not intended to be able to select shards otherwise
The shard system just seems royally messed up. Why bother to ask what server you will be on (and many people just ask people they will be playing with what one they are on) only to then find out you and your friends may be on different servers anyway?
guesting can work, I used it yesterday to get a melandru skill point in cursed shore, im on sfr and I picked kodash to guest to and got it, though it may have been a stroke of luck and by chance logged into a different one.
on character select screen, pick ‘change server’ pick the server you want to guest to from the list and click guest and log into the character u want, logging out/switching characters sets you back to your home server.
you can guest to 2 different servers per 24 hours

Guesting is different from shards, which aren’t even a thing in GW2, the don’t use the normal server system like most other MMO’s(even though we call then shards, they aren’t). What the OP is looking for is a different instance of the zone they’re in, yes, they’re basically still instances, since they’re usually just different copies of the same map on the same server…unless the map is so populated it requires more than one server to support the number of maps.
As one of the work-arounds known to be viable for the Tutorial Instance when it is stalled, guesting does often offer a different IP address.
It can’t hurt to try it.
Good luck.

Guesting can move you to a different shard if there are multiple shards at one time. The game does send people to a particular shard for reasons that depends on a number of factors, one of which is your server. Guesting to a server that is on a different shard than your server can be enough to put you on that shard.
In Europe at least the best you can try is to guest on servers with a different language.
I’m on a german server and always try to guest at Desolation and Fort Ranik
