human character
I don’t think you choose 1 weapon on GW2, it’s always a change depending on the situation. And… Never pick a human, they are all gonna die (?????)????*?
I think you start off with a dagger, which I actually like on a necro. Has a life siphon on skill 2 and an immobilize on 3. You might look into axe for new necro. Give you a bit of range and has a cripple.

Necromancer is probably the easiest profession in the game overall. Ranger would be the other, which is easier to start with because of the pet.
Best weapon? It doesn’t matter. You should try experimenting. Alternatively, I’d go with a dagger and a warhorn or focus. Building your necro to use pets is a common choice, though I’d personally go with wells, which can be built for high uptime protection and a lot of life leech.
if not human what other race is good for a necromancer
Race doesn’t really matter that much. Pick what you want. The only thing that really is affected by race aside from appearance, some of the personal story and starting area is some elite racial skills that really are not very useful in my opinion.

Race doesn’t really change anything. The racial skills are not even worth it, so pick anything you like.
All the races are good. The guy above was being funny.
However you can get some really good necro looks with sylvari and the ability to have different colored skins besides a range of white/brown/black.

Whichever you think looks the best.
Your choice of race is mostly cosmetic. The only difference between them is their racial skills, which are rarely used outside of niche situations because they’re intentionally weaker than normal skills.
One thing about necromancers is when you hit 80 and if you have Heart of Thorns, you can become a Reaper. Greatsword + Chilling & Minion shouts + life siphoning = FUN!
should I go for all traits or what traits should I use
When you reach level 80, you will have enough points to unlock them all, so ultimately it doesn’t matter.
While leveling up, read the traits on a line and unlock whatever sounds fun.
You won’t get any traits for a while and at the most you’ll get 3 lines at level 80. I’d play the profession first and then look at traits to support the playstyle that’s best for you. Unlock those as you get them.
Don’t unlock at random. You can’t mix and match traits from various lines. You get 3 lines max at 80 to use at one time. At your low level you’ll only have one line at first. Unlocking from a second line means you’ll have to either switch to that line or have it be unused.
