This was my first MMO and I was so excited so I paid extra just so I could play during headstart. I managed to level my toon up to Level 6 without really knowing what to do. There were so many people during headstart so I was just following them and helping out. I believe I last played on Aug. 28th or 29th. A bunch of stuff happened IRL so I put GW2 on the backburner.

Fast-forward to a couple days ago when I played again and it was soooooooooo different! There was nobody around on the Asura starting level. I started on the West part of the map and ran all the way to the other end and did not see a single human player. Of course, the chat was completely silent too. It felt like a single-player game and I didn’t like it.

I tried continuing my quest line but I just couldn’t get into it. I didn’t want to continue my storyline because I bought this game to play with people. I wanted to RvRvR because that was what I really wanted to do but I didn’t know how to get there! Can someone show me a link to a map or a YouTube vid showing how to get there? Can I participate even though I’m only Level 6? I’m thinking I could probably tag along with the zerg until I figure out what to do with the objectives and stuff and get a few more levels.

Thanks!

Well to get to wvw just press the B key and in that screen select one of the battlegrounds to enter… probably the one with the most people will be the eternal battlegrounds.
You can enter at any level.

I assume RvRvR is WvW, in which case you hit “B” and join in on any of the maps. As for the empty maps, many people already have a maxed character, so many of the high level maps have more people in them (especially Cursed Shore and Frostgorge Sound for the events).

Find a guild, join it. If it has good people that are helpful, great. Otherwise join another until you get one that’s gonna work for you — i.e. give you people to play with, and people who’ll patiently show you the ropes. My guild has events specifically to help new/learning players, for example.

1st: Lower levels will not have a lot of people in them. It is the nature of modern MMO’s. The faster the leveling the lower the amount of lower level players there will be faster. Just hang in there.

2nd: Storyline is actually crafted as a more solo experience. Nobody LFG’s for Personal Story instances.

3rd: Hit “B” to bring up WvW info (iirc). Another way (and someone you might need/want) is Lions arch. Go to your PvP tab (Cross swords at the top left of screen) and go to the Heart of the mists. From there take a portal to LA, it has asura gates to all the major cities + all the WvW maps. I highly recommend you get this place asap.

4th: Everyone can help out in WvW. It will autoscale you to 80, but you can still level there. So PvP to your hearts content.

5th: Zergs will net you good xp/money. If you see a commander (Blue icon on the map) generally zergs are located there. If not do a /map and ask if there is anyone in a zerg atm.

Additional
Once you hit 35 go LFG for AC Explore even if you haven’t done the Story mode. It is a great learner for your class to do dungeons, and nets HUGE xp and good money (Especially AC exp).

Use the LFG site to start your group Link is here: http://gw2lfg.com/ – Once you get used to dungeons you can easily start your own. THIS tool is a must for heavy dungeon pugging.

Happy hunting.

It’s so different because at the beginning everyone was just starting out. A lot of us have multiple 80’s now and are focusing on other aspects of the game. You’ll still see a lot of people on the starter zones right after the dailies reset.
