There is no trinity. GW2 will never have trinity. GW2 was purposely MADE to not have the trinity.

OP, if you want defined roles like you are talking about you are not going to find it here with GW2. It’s that simple. I hope you find a game that provides what you are looking for. There are many out there. Perhaps some others here can suggest a game that will provide what you are looking for.

This is probably the friendliest comunity ever…. If I were to say this in Dota/CS Discussions everyone would of flamed and cussed at me.

To the OP, Gw2 is a non traditional MMO they have clarified that there is NO TRINITY SYSTEM which makes it unique, if you want trinity system there are tons of MMOs out there but rarely any good ones currently (F2p Mmos are just grind grind grind, typical Korean MMO)

I, too, like to walk into a vegetarian buffet and loudly demand a meat option.

Tanker and Healer ?…pfff…. who need them while you can control your own battlefield and why there have to be Tank/Heal/Dps same old MMO style, GW2 break that rule that’s why ppl love this game.

Plus you can be tanky most use in WvW ppl might love you….wow good for ya Healer ?…mmhm…..might be viable but everybody hate you cuz you just stand their with tiny damg and heal a massive amount of player in dungeon you will get kick…well mostly.

Because if every MMO that ever came out stayed with the trinity system, it would be really, really , really boring. (to me anyway)

How many MMO’s have disappeared over the years trying to emulate a trinity system but just ended up turning out to be little more than a clone?

Why should all future games be stuck in this same boring mould?

Anet had the benefit that they had an existing fan base derived from GW. This gave them the opportunity to draw on that fan base and try something different. Despite its flaws, GW2 has turned out to be eminently better than a traditional trinity MMO.

The difference is that they aren’t NEEDED. The main problem with a trinity is that it confines certain professions into certain roles. In Guild Wars, any profession can do everything (of course some better than others). Plus the very way combat works, and the fact the one player cannot hold aggro, makes a trinity system impossible.

I prefer it this way, i got sick and tired of waiting for a tank and a healer in GW1, and any other MMO ive played over the years. thank goodness GW2 isnt like that, i prefer being able to take care of myself than have to depend on someone else for my survival.

OP roles wont happen in this game, its literally marketed as not having defined roles, i highly suggest you find another game if thats what you want.

As others have said, GW2 is designed around the lack of rigid defined roles. And it has millions of players who like it like that. It wouldn’t be this game if it had a trinity.

And you can. There is nothing stopping you. They make certain types of gear and traits JUST for that very purpose. As I said in another threadv "You don’t NEED full dps beserker gear to do ANY of the content. Thats the difference. You can successfully complete all content with full Nomads or Clerics if you wanted to. The “zerker” requirement is established by players, and players only. Its faster yes, but not a requirement at all. Don’t want to use it? Dont join a zerger only speed run. Its that simple. The content is designed to be able to do it without having being forced to have certian roles. That’s what a trinity system is. You need to have X,Y and Z or you WILL fail. However even with a full DPS group in gw2, there are VERY few events that will fail if you don’t have enough DPS and dungeons aren’t one of them."

I played GW1 for many years and I cannot tell you how frustrating it was waiting for a healer. As soon as a healer appeared in the outpost they were literally swarmed by party offers. The addition of healer heroes mitigated this somewhat. For the rest of the players, it could mean over an hour spent standing around waiting.

The removal of the need for party roles freed up everyone’s time to go out and be doing stuff. Every player was largely self sufficient in getting out there and fighting. If you want to play a tank in GW2, then you’ll find that virtually impossible as the aggro mechanic prevents monsters from focusing solely on one player. Healing is more possible with Altruistic healing cleric guardians and Water elementalists. There are certainly niches for those kinds of characters and there will be parties who will take them. Many veteran players have learned to not need that sort of character so by sticking with that mentality, OP you are just limiting your gaming options

if there tank and healer, i will not play GW2 any longer.

Fight a battle together is team work, nobody can deny it.

OR
Just want to have good runs and be carried by others (eg zerkers)- and can’t be asked to form a PHIW group running what the hell you want and will protest until they are blue in the face.

Don’t want to be told what to run and don’t want to learn from others – and will protest until they are blue in the face.
2) I cannot understand GW2 trinity (damage,support and control)- which all professions can do and want the (heal,DPS and tank)- cause that is all I understand from years of playing other MMOs. They will protest that GW2 is all wrong and needs to be changed until they are blue in the face.
If you fit any of the above- I hear that the smurfs 3 are looking for more actors.

So you want to play the boring “let’s watch red bars” game? There are other games out there that support this playstyle. This game was never supposed to be a “red bar” game, it’s a more personal action-combat game.

I get what OP is saying. The PvE zerker meta is basically just DPS. It is still the holy trinity just without the tank and healer. It doesn’t make GW2 all that different from WoW and others.

My suggestion?
Just don’t follow the zerker meta and watch everything be more interesting and enjoyable at the small price of taking about 30% longer.

GW2 actually uses a similar system. My celestial sword and board build does good damage, is tanky, and is close. Most of the hits go my way in fights.

You clearly aren’t familiar with WoW DPS. Negating damage is something you are expected to do. GW2 having slightly different methods of doing that doesn’t mean Zerk builds are not just WoW DPSers.
