In addition, we’ll also improve the functionality of legendaries, allowing you to set their stats when out of combat to any stat combo available, so you don’t need to transmute stat changes for legendaries. Legendary gear will remain with the same tier of stats as ascended gear and will not be made more powerful than other gear, it will simply be slightly more convenient since it will no longer need transmutations to change stats.

edited to be stats only and not skins. based on the feedback received so far. thanks everyone! will continue to receive feedback.

if u can freely change stats of any piece of equipment

equipment being:
weapons: one handed, two handed, off hand
armor: helm, shoulders, chest, pants, gloves, boots
trinkets: back piece, amulet, ring, ring, accessory, accessory

stats being:
prefix: berserkers, soldiers, knights, etc
suffix: weapon sigils, armor runes, etc
infusions: offensive infusions, utility infusions, defensive infusions, etc

it would be like changing traits, just click on it to bring up a menu of unlocked stats and choose to switch to them while not in combat etc.

do you want it?
do you want to have such equipment stats flexibility in guild wars 2?

no? why? please share why you would oppose such an awesome feature.

this will boost sales of fine transmutation stones tremendously provided that fine transmutation stones is required in the process of unlocking new stats etc.

changing of skins will still require fine transmutation stones.

It’ll never happen because Anet will need to earn some money from gem store, and one of the most consistent and sustained sell would be the transmutation stones.

Your “idea” will never happen unless you get players to boycott gem store, which will happen in….. never.

I suggested something like this a while ago but with skins only. Basically everything remains as it is now but you have the extra option of adding a skin to a wardrobe for a price in gems.

It would be another source of gems actually, because I’m sure many would want to bind legendary skins to their character’s wardrobe.

You should just have a slot for the skin and be able to pick the stats yourself. Runes and upgrades are dumb and just waste of time buying them all over the place and clicking on them. just have an tick box and increase this stat decrease that stat. Simple, fun, and customizable. RIGHT?

i only agree with the prefix change, but that’s because Anet refuse to fill the prefix-item gaps.

freely changing suffix and infusion, i cant justify since you can just buy a stack of them and certain runes and sigils are more expensive so being able to change will drop their price and rarity significantly. Would also be a problem if the unsold ones start to clog the TP months from now

^ dungeon gear only offer 3 prefix choices (minor issue). Some prefix are not avaliable for ascended and backgear(major issue). Legendaries only have 1 prefix(major issue)

yes, it could be designed such that, to unlock new stats, the item with the new stats is absorbed into the existing item.

well, for example:
1st helm has berserker stats originally.
2nd helm has knights stats.
1st helm collects knights stats essence from the 2nd helm.
2nd helm is destroyed in the process. i.e. eaten by the 1st helm.
1st helm now can switch between berserkers and knights stats.
this process will consume a gem store product, i.e. fine transmutation stones

for gold sink purposes, can make it so that each change will require some silvers perhaps? for balancing economic purposes, as mentioned by many in here.

Legendary weapons should have this feature (which they will), regular armour and weapons should not. Why? Because everything about this game is to do with building … allow people to swap stats around at will and what’s the point of ever carrying on beyond getting one set of armour and weapons?

Or do you mean that in order to unlock these different stats you first need to earn all the different sets anyway, but once you have you can unlock the stats for each piece of armour thereafter. But if you want one you haven’t yet unlocked, you’ll need to farm/craft/buy an item with that stat set? If this is what you mean then that makes more sense.
