No, its not against the rules. You can feel perfectly safe doing it.

are you sure? is there any way to prove? i dont want to get banned after paying money for transmutes
If this is about cross transmuting, be aware they may do a rollback on it, I read a topic with a dev response saying they were going to revert those like they did when you could get t3 cultural weapons from heart vendors for cheap. I don’t remember the topic but I know I read it, I have some cross trans too not trolling, just what I read.
can you link me?
this is how i got the wraith mask from the necro on my mesmer

I remember reading in some other post that this is fine (Anet posted saying it was fine). So I went and gave my Guardian the Engineer backpack lol…
Anet makes money when ppl use real cash for the trans stones.
And as you have to use many to do it i guess anet would prob look the other way.
As long as there making money from it.
my guess is you cant use these on dungeon items however, am I correct?
confirmed dungeon items dont work
Did I hear wrong and he said that you can actually transmute light armor skins on to heavy armor and then have a heavy armor character wear that gear? I would love to have some of the medium ranger gear on my Necro lol. (Or heavy plate ;p)

Nope. He tried to correct himself after that.
ahh ok, thats what I thought. (darn it ;p). Thanks!
i hope its actually allowed
Ive asked about transmuting order equipment and moving it to different character (with white items) from support few weeks ago and this is the answer i got.
The issue you reported with being able to transmute Basic items and bypass soulbound restrictions is not the intended design of transmutation. Our Quality Assurance team has already been notified of the issues with this and are working to get this resolved as soon as possible.
In the past, there was a similar issue with Order of the Whispers skins that were acquired by players who were not a part of the Order of Whispers. When the issue was resolved, all items that had these skins applied on characters that should not be able to receive them were wiped and the skins were lost. Any items that are currently benefiting from this issue will likely see a similar resolution with the unintended skin being removed from the character and unrecoverable. Taking part in this issue would see the risk of losing your items.
So i would personally be cautious while doing this. Its confirmed that you wont get banned from doing it, but your item might get removed if you do this.

Would love a reply as well since I plan on doing this eventually on my next char.

If they have half a brain they would not do such a thing and if they were actually smart they would add a vendor after you become pact commander, that allows you to purchase order gear from the other orders. Unfortunately, the devs judgment is sometimes… lacking.. to say the least.

Oh man if they roll back my various starter headgear I did this to I’ll be immensely kitten . There’s honestly no reason at all for them to roll it back. If they wanna change it, fine. But we bought the transmute stones, did it as legit as possible with the then-current mechanics. Don’t take my necro masks away

I think the term for it is “nerfing fun.”

I hope it’s legal. My warrior is wearing priory and vigil gear.
I think, if they actually carried through with wiping said items, they’d have a PR nightmare.

i do hope that if they are going to remove this ‘unintended feature’ of transmute stone, they should at least allow us to get different faction gears.
All the three factions are united under the Pact, if a vigil spell caster hates how skimpy vigil gear, it shouldn’t be a issue for her to purchase a more conservative looking Priory robe from the Priory.

Wow, I’ll be annoyed if they delete cross-transmuted items. The “Determination Headband” is the first headgear I’ve put on my ranger, that I’m not inclined to hide most of the time.

I would hope so. The ones i have earned through map completion and dailies are drying up fast, as me and the guy on the vid do the same things for our warriors.
