I just hit lv80 and I’m really confused about what to do now. What’s the quickest way to gear up my character? Should I farm dungeons or pvp?

You can run dungeons and get tokens for gear and it is a good way to farm gold as well. Exotic gear really doesn’t cost that much and if you run 3-4 dungeon paths a day you can buy it on the TP in no time. Once you get the hang of it you can run CoF path 1, AC paths 1,2,3, in about an hour easy.

You can…
1. Craft them with a mastersmith/tailor/leatherworker
2. Buy them from the TP
3. Do dungeons
4. Go to Orr and get them with Karma
5. Go to WvW and get them with badges of honor

Join zerg in EotM. Run until you have about 1000-1500 badges. Go to your server’s borderlands, buy exotic armor and weapons from armor\weapon master.

The quickest way would likely be to do dungeons and buy exotics with the dungeon coins. This also gets you the unique looks of the dungeon armor that are not normally available to other players who have not completed them. Alternatively you can also use the gold that you get from dungeons to buy Exotics off of the TP.

The easiest way is just to run around harvesting things across various maps. If you do this all day it will net you about 20-30 gold per day by selling crafting materials and you need only about 60g to completely gear a character in Exotics (assuming expensive ones like Knight or Berserker, cheaper sets take less time).

Buy the named sets, e.g Zhed’s armor, not Berserker’s Exaulted armor.

There are many other ways too, such as using your karma to buy a few sets from Orr. For example , you can mix Knight armor with Cavalier (Balthazar) trinkets to get a nice combination that has medium damage and medium defense.

Be warned that you can’t salvage this gear. So if you put a rune/sigil on such gear, it is unrecoverable unless you use the obscenely expensive Upgrade Extractor from the gemstore.

WvW (Taohaza suggests EotM) is can be a fast/easy method to get exotic gear, and personally I think it’s one of my favorite game modes, but gear purchased with badges can’t be salvaged (or sold or forged). This isn’t an issue if you are using the gear, but if you decide to change stats later, upgrade at some point, or something else happens, you can’t get your runes back. I won’t say don’t get it, especially if you are using it as a starting point, or getting runes back won’t be an issue (perhaps because runes are a separate investment you aren’t ready for yet), but do be aware.
