looking to get back into GW2, class dilemma
Warrior pro. Lots of weapons slightly more damage con can die alot easier than a guardian otherwise its just a guardian.
Mesmer interesting class but very boring to play least in my opinion. Greatsword is totally boring on a mesmer especially.

yeah, am not necessarily aiming for a specific weapon currently, as long as there’s some viable options :-)
Try engineer. If you don’t love it right away, you can quit. Personally, I can’t play anything else above 20. I just love my engineer too much.
if you are really adventures you may want to try a dagger/dagger or scepter/dagger Ele.
It involves lots of speed and mobility with using all 4 of the attunements. (which is the ele version of weapon swapping in combat)
In my opinion its one of the funnest combats for any class. My main is still my guardian but playing my ele and lvling her is very fun indeed, even more so then when i was lvling my guardian.

That’s one opinion. I have an 80 warrior and an 80 mesmer, and I find the mesmer to be way more interesting to play. Different strokes.
The warrior is incredibly dull to play IMO. It does a ton of damage but the class is incredibly straight forward with no “fun” mechanics. In PvE their damage is pretty much unrivaled but they do lack some real group utility.
The mesmer has fun mechanics and depth, but they are kinda squishy. As far as PvE the mesmer has tons of group utility. Portals to get by jumping puzzles some might be bad at. Time Warp for a huge DPS boost, group stealth to bypass some enemies, and reflect for projectiles(can do massive damage on some mobs/bosses like the dredge suit fractal boss).
Sounds like a Warrior would appeal to you more.

So don’t use a GS, on my mes I mainly use sword/torch and staff. Mes is really fun to play.
Miranda Zero – Ele / Twitch Zero – Mes / Chargrin Soulboom – Engi
Aliera Zero – Guardian / Reaver Zero – Necro
I love my warrior but I will admit its very simple to play. So long as you dont run a GS Signet build youre good to go. As for group play youve only really got two options for healing- shouts heal and banner but they do have a lot of skills useful to the entire party, my fav being On My Mark! which gives the entire group a 10% damage boost on a single mob for 10 seconds per 30 untraited. One criticism I do have is that warriors lack a decent number of combo fields.
In my opinion they are a pretty balanced class so long as you trait properly and use some defensive skills. They have great burst damage with many weapons, have a fair few blocks and knockdowns, have a decent HP pool and can take a lot of punishment if using Knight’s armour. Ive never played a mesmer but id agree that if you want ‘interesting’ id choose any class other than warrior! But if you want a stable, strong, powerful class that can hold its own in most situations then go for warrior.
Retired and living in a shack. Relaxing!

After giving the Mesmer a shot I do have to admit I am enjoying the mesmer more. Warrior feels visceral but also very straightforward, I may level one as an alt someday. thanks for all the responses :-)
