Q:
losing BloodLust stacks when in water
A:
They changed it a few weeks ago. Basically 1 or 2 updates ago they changed it so you can’t get your stacks then remove your weapon with that sigil. If you wanted the stacks you had to stick with that sigil equipped.
To get around this people were putting the sigil on their underwater weapons so that they always had the sigil equipped but not actually in use when they swapped their main weapons.
So ANet saw this as wrong too, and decided to make going underwater the equivalent of unequipping your on land weapons. Thusly unequipping your stacking sigils, and removing stacks unless you also had them on your underwater weapons.
Basically if you want to be able to dive into water and keep your stacks you have to invest in 2 sigils, one just to sit on your underwater weapon and go mostly unused…at least that is what i’ve been told, I haven’t deemed it worthwhile to do that personally, I just accept that I lose stacks when I dive into the water and mumble something bad about anet when it happens
They vanished because you switched weapons to underwater, which is like unequipping. I believe if your undewrwater weapon had the same sigil, they would have stayed.
Unless I missed an update that would make me very angry, that shouldn’t be the case. You should report that.

Oh, that’s crap. I get it, and it makes sense mechanically, but that’s completely lame.

nvm, there was a recent update that did this.
I think that it is a recent change.
On my toons that use Bloodlust, they have it on both land/sea weapons just to make sure this does not happen. The last few days has my Bloodlust using warrior running around Orr and every time I jump in the water…poof no stacks. And yes both of my underwater weapons have Bloodlust on them as well.
Wait, something isn’t going right. When i charge my weapon underwater then i go on ground, i keep my 25 stacks. But when i jump back into water, i lose all my stacks again, even with my blood sigil, can someone else confirm this BUG please ?
It has something to do with different levels of Bloodlust.
Example: my rogue has a superior sigil of bloodlust on his main weapon but majors on both of his sea weapons. So on land he build up a stack (10’s) and enters the water…boom no stacks. He kills stuff with his sea weapon and starts a new stack (7’s). He goes back on land and the stack size does not increase with the superior sigil weapon. However, I have a backup land weapon that only has a major as well. If i kill stuff in this situation with that weapon the stack size will increase (7’s).
So it appears that the lower intensity (7 vs 10) stack will overwrite the stack itself and not allow the superior to increase the stack amount. The superior will keep alive the stack of bloodlust but cannot contribute to it (in this condition). So the only way to get the superior stack working again, after being overwritten, is to equip a weapon without bloodlust, lose the stack entirely, and start over with the superior weapon.
Just conjecture based on one user’s testing, I could be wrong, but the UI indicates that I am not.

If you stay on the surface of the water.(with all weapons/skilled blocked) then stacks remain regardless of sigils on the underwater weapon. I can confirm that with a superior sigil on your land and underwater weapon, your stacks will be preserved, and you can even add to the stack with each weapon. Even if you swap to another underwater weapon w/out the same sigil, you’ll still keep those stacks.(Just confirmed this, they must have fixed that.)
