What processor and how much RAM do you have?
Also are you using 32bit or 64bit OS?

Change your graphics when you do WvW might help a little.. I just play on recommended settings and i never had fps issues, and i dont think my graphics card is better than yours.

Make sure that you have updated your drivers for the video card.

You probably should add another 2gb ram. I have 4gb on mine and it runs fine with an AMD processor and a bit older graphics card.

This probably should have been in the Tech Support section… you’d get better answers there.

They are two quite significant bottlenecks for this game.

Anything less than a 1st gen i series will be an issue, especially if it’s only a dual core. The game also loves memory and 2GB is quite low.

Ideally, you want a new CPU and more RAM (which means new motherbaord as well).
Seeing as your memory is so low, I’d imagine just adding more would see a reasonable improvement without costing much.

Do you know what motherboard you have?

Most likely you’ll need DDR2. However some of the later 775 (the socket your CPU uses) boards accommodate DDR3 RAM.

I was asking your motherboard model to determine what memory you need.

How much of that 2Gb RAM is used just running your OS or background apps?

RAM looks to be the obvious bottleneck, although the CPU is hardly ultra-modern either.

:edit:

That mobo supports up to ddr3 1066Mhz, you can get 4Gb of that for under £20 in the UK (check websites like EBuyer.com, Overclockers.co.uk & Scan.co.uk) or under US$20 on sites like NewEgg.com

I’d advise checking the number of RAM slots which you are using – add an extra 2Gb if there’s room and it’s the same size, otherwise store your current RAM as a spare and get 4Gb. I have 8Gb myself.

:edit2:

That mobo has 2 DDR3 slots and 2 DDR2 slots, and you cannot use both types of RAM at once. Plus it has a limit of 4Gb. So a 4Gb matched pair sounds like the best way forward, should be around 35 pounds or dollars once you add in delivery.

Just a side-note: if you upgrade to 4GB+ of RAM but are running a 32-bit OS (just a shot in the dark, but your other specs are a little outdated so I thought it possible you might be), your system will only get use out of around 3GB of that. You’d need to also upgrade to a 64-bit operating system.

My personal opinion is that, if you haven’t already, you need to turn most of your graphics settings way down. Even though it’s an upgrade for you, the 550ti is an older, budget-minded videocard — it wouldn’t have been capable of playing the newest games at their high settings even when it was released 18 months ago. If you’re looking to get good graphical quality at smooth framerates in GW2, you pretty much need a mostly new computer (new mobo, cpu, ram, OS, etc). If, however, you’re perfectly fine with running on low settings and would just be happy with a smoother framerate, adding RAM and upgrading your OS to make use of it would be the first upgrades I’d look into. Even then, however, your framerate will probably be dropping way down in large WvW battles.

Maximum 4GB, yes.

As previously said, it’s a combo board which supports both DDR2 and DDR3, however you cannot use DDR2 and DDR3 at the same time.

DDR3 is cheaper than DDR2, grab a 4GB (2×2GB) DDR3 kit.
If you’re currently using DDR2 memory, remove it when you add the DDR3 DIMMs.

Details of that mobo: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/MSI-P35-Neo-Combo-Motherboard-Review/460

And FYI I have a 460GTX, I disabled shadows completely and left the rest of the graphics settings at max and it stays around 45-60 fps even in WvW
