lvl10 story key
If I’m not mistaken, the key reset is Monday (?). I generally do my key farm every Saturday morning just to be sure.

I’ve been leveling a lot of alts lately, so I’ve been doing a lot of personal story missions. But I don’t want to do a level 10 mission and not get a key, so I need to know when the last time I got a key was. I’m also very bad at remembering to take note of that. Is there any sort of timer we can see in-game? And if there isn’t, does anyone else think there should be one?
You can type /age in chat which will tell u how old ur char is.
I use the free Personal Banker to let me know how much time has passed on my key-run character, but I believe the key-run limitations are per account, so that would not help.
Perhaps, jotting down on a calendar each time you receive a key from L10 PS?
I don’t need to know how old my character is. I have characters whose level ten stories I completed months after I created them.
As for reset- I thought it was just one week after you got the last one, not on a specific day? Does anyone know for sure?
Yes, the reset is the same as for Guild Missions.
Monday 08:30 UTC (01:30 UTC-7)
Two other in-game techniques for setting a reminder:
- Message-of-the-Day, if you have a personal- or just-friends guild.
- Block List — set a nickname (of some poor ‘volunteer’) to something like:
- A Key Earned Five July
- Change the date after L10 story.
You don’t need to worry about when exactly you last got a key.
It resets for everyone at the exact same time – 8:30 UTC on Monday. So you could get a key at 8:00 UTC on Monday and then get another one at 9:00.
So all you need to worry about is whether you’ve gotten a key since last Monday. If you want to do regular key runs (or simply finish your level 10 story on a lot of characters) the simplest way is probably to pick a day of the week to do it.
I admit I sometimes have trouble remembering if things happened on Tuesday or Wednesday or what day of the week it actually is, but I can usually narrow it down to a week. So I usually do key runs on the weekend and then I can be reasonably sure it’s been a week since I last did one.

While we are at key farm,
Does anyone else have kittenpoor key drop rate from maps since last update?
1 key in last 12 maps for me, another guildie is at 3 keys in 21 maps (he’s doing map compl) .
Before the patch I was at least getting the 1 key every 3 maps (wiki says 25%), but now …
And no, I’m not doing cities.

Oh, okay, a weekly reset is much easier to remember. Thanks for the help!
And I can’t answer that other question, since I haven’t been doing map completion that recently.

RNG is RNG.
It’s been a while since I did map completion but I didn’t get anywhere near that drop rate on keys. I’d have been thrilled to get 1 key every 12 maps. If I had gotten a key for every 3 maps I would have been convinced that RNG was broken!

Assuming the wiki’s 25% is accurate (although: not sure that they have nearly enough data to say), then the chance of getting 1 or fewer keys out of 12 maps is nearly 16%.
So not only is your luck simply bad, it’s not even bad enough to be surprising.
Similarly, your guildie isn’t that unlucky either: 3 or fewer keys in 21 maps — there’s about a 19% chance of that happening.

Tell me about it — despite my posting about RNG all the time, I’m not immune to the same impressions as everyone else. I get 8 promotions from 20 tries in the forge (average would be 4) and I think, “oh about time” and then forget about it 20 minutes later when I get just 3 promotions (“oh no, my luck is just terrible today”). We tend to expect to get average or better, remember our disappointment when we don’t, and forget or otherwise discount our joy when we get notably better.
