Is it just me? I used to always be able to sell them on the TP but more and more lately I am salvaging rares and having to vendor the major rune.

Generally, it evens out. Mystic forge is a gamble. Considering the fact most runes aren’t worth what you spend to make them and advising people to rely on blind RNG is just terrible.

I blame the influx of rares depressing the value to below vendor price.

I forge mine but I have the portable one.

Beyond superior sigils and runes that are worth something or worth nothing, I like to keep the dungeon runes I get and well the ones that arnt worth anything too sometimes. You never know when they might change a rune set so that it becomes useful/valuable.

Just vendor them.

Trying to squeeze whatever puny value they may have off a RNG gamble while working through a tedious interface is not my style and I have a mystic forge conduit. It’s the equivalent of going out with the purpose of finding change on the ground and then people reminisce of the time they found a $20 bill.

\The only time I would forge them is if my inventory were that full but if you don’t own the conduit, you’d have to make a trip to a inconvenient mystic forge and that too me, is a complete waste of time which defeats the purpose of clearing space. You’d be better off just TP’ing them for a loss almost.

If you want to gamble, promote mats or something. There’s also a few promotions that aren’t gambles as well. Way better use of your time.

Let’s put it this way. If you vendor 10,000 major runes for 1s each, you’d get 100g. Let’s say you get lucky a few times and get double the value per rune for 200 gold. Then imagine the time you wasted forging 10,000 runes and selling the results. Congrats! You can afford an extra piece of ascended armor. Almost. In the meantime, you will have salvaged over 10000 rares which would on average net you around 3000 gold.

I think it is pretty generous too, because what are you even forging to? How many exotic runes are actually worth anything anymore? Even strength runes are 3.6 gold now…

Is that worth 100 gold, where it isn’t even guaranteed? I’d rather take the guaranteed 100 gold.

This is also why Karma forging, while incredibly cost effective, isn’t very time effective.

NOTE: Now, I’m quite sure there’s someone out there that’s managed to corner a super niche market in some major runes and probably was able to eek a profit out by mass buying tons of these things, however, you’ll have to decide if it’s worth your time figuring it out.

For once you have tasted flight you will walk the earth with your eyes turned skywards,
for there you have been and there you will long to return.
