I apologize if this has been mentioned before, forum search turned up nothing.

I was helping a friend in Cursed Shore, waiting for the Risen High Wizard event to start near Arah, which we both needed to unlock a couple Major Traits. I saw the “Ensure that the Pact holds the Gates of Arah” event pop up, decided to help out, hoping the wizard would appear. The event completed, and… no wizard.

I asked around, and learned the Risen High Wizard ONLY appears during the capture event, NOT the defense. This meant that as long as players kept successfully defending the Gates of Arah, the Wizard would never spawn.

Is this intentional? Or are we not supposed to wait days to unlock a major trait? It just seems wrong to me.

It’s a poor choice for Anet to lock a trait behind, most people will prefer the defense of Arah because the loot gain is much better (10 minutes of waves of enemies) than the capture event. That said, you could always do the defense event and gain enough stuff to sell to simply outright purchase the trait from the class trainer.
