I recently previewed all of the dungeon armor, and I would rather have any heavy armor or even most light armor than medium. The AC gear is ok… but could use some horns or something cool on the helmet. Minister Caudecus armor is the same skin that I got through my main storyline. Twilight Arbor is just too girly for me. Sorrow’s Embrace is alright if you don’t compare it to the heavy set. The Citadel of Flame would be the set I would want, but why does the breastplate cover up the pauldrons? Even if it didn’t cover the pauldrons, I still want the heavy set. The Honor of the Waves and Crucible of Eternity armor is just nothing special, and again the heavy armor looks awesome. Now the Arah medium armor looks pretty sweet, the only problem is that I cant change the color of the headband I chose in character creation (there needs to be a way to change this color). I guess all I can do is say is good job to the person who created the heavy armor sets, and create a new character to wear heavy armor.

This is entirely subjective. You wanted them to create skins that everyone adores? Humans are humans, alas.

Yup, the medium armor is just crap compared to the others, I mean all trench coats? /sigh

It’s kinda like how all legendary weps look crap except the greatswords.

This has been an issue since BWE1 and as far as I can tell, it’s been mostly ignored. In beta, devs had posted that it got better “later” – but as we can see, that’s not really the case.
It’s subjective of course, but ugh… I find it all pretty bleh, boring and especially lacking in the racially themed stuff (I don’t think 3 racial options is nearly enough – not when most of the armor drops/crafted/karma looks like human stuff; so it’s highly unbalanced IMO).

I have some great (I think) medium armor. Much of it looks great on female characters and I look totally awesome on my male human, like someone girls would actually want to date. I could either dress up as a dashing pirate or a ninja ^_^

It’s not so much about me not liking the skins, it just looks like they spent way more time designing the heavy and light armor, and let the medium armor slip through the cracks. If you read my whole rant I said I liked the Citadel of Flame armor but the breastplate covers up the sweet pauldrons that go with it, why would I want that?

Med armor, if you want to look like a cowboy or ghetto pirate, wear it!
There is really less variation in med armor. Alot of trenchcoats, alot look the same and only some look different.

Medium doesn’t offer as much variety as the other categories, I agree. It’s mostly unflattering leather coats, which gets tiring after a while.
There already were some threads about this however.

Ironically, I liked the medium armors more than the heavy armors on my warrior so I made a thief….and the one I like most? Heritage armor with shoulders hidden. It looks awesome, almost medieval especially if you keep the colours really normal (I have dark/faded blue for the stripped parts and bronze for everything else). I kind of look like the Witcher (Geralt).

Actually, I really like the medium armour, especially on my female characters. It manages to be stylish, classy and sexy all at once…. and STILL look protective.

That being said, however, I do think that having more styles to chose from for all three types of armour would not hurt. The reality is that any player base will have vastly different preferences. Personally, I dislike armours that show huge amounts of skin, not because I am prude (quite the opposite, in fact), but rather, I want my melee characters to be wearing something that appears to offer at least some resistance against nasty, pointy things. However, other players prefer to live on the edge and expose their vulnerabilities, and that’s fine too. Or maybe they just don’t like leather trench coats.
The point is, though, diversity is a good thing, especially in an MMO. Otherwise it ends up looking as though everybody has hit the sale racks in one of Tyria’s chain stores.
